Jennie and Lisa went inside the old and untouched house and as expected, everything was covered in dust as if it was left for ages. Lisa stole a glance at Jennie, she noticed the latter's mind was wandering off elsewhere so she cleared her throat to catch Jennie's attention.
"Are you okay?" Lisa asked and Jennie looked at her.
"Yes, of course." Jennie answered.
"Why don't you check the rooms and I'll clean up here and then you get some rest?" Lisa offered.
"I'll help clean up first." Jennie said.
"Hey." Lisa softly said and she approached Jennie with a sympathetic smile. "I know you're upset about that werewolf but it shouldn't get into you. What does he know about you anyway, right? He should mind his own business—"
"My kind is his business. Don't you get it, it all started because of me. If only I didn't agree with Chaeyoung about healing me and just let me die then none of this would have happened." Jennie sighed and she looked at Lisa with pleading eyes. "I'm tired, Lisa. You have no idea how I just want to vanish, I'm full of guilt, I tried ending my life but nothing happened and it's tiring living everyday carrying the weight on my shoulder."
Lisa was speechless for a second, she hadn't seen Jennie this vulnerable before and didn't expect she would be like this now. Sighing, she brought Jennie into a hug and patted her back softly.
"You know what I like about you? You can be more human than a human can be. You could be heartless at times but deep inside, I've noticed you have a soft spot and it's not a bad thing. Having a soft spot is what keeps us grounded and it shouldn't be a weakness but a strength." Lisa pulled herself from the hug to take a look at Jennie whose eyes were beginning to tear up. "You will always have me, I won't let anything or anyone hurt you. We're doing everything now together, aren't we? So we should help each other." Lisa smiled.
"Why do you even insist to befriend me?" Jennie asked.
"Well, I don't know..." Lisa hesitantly answered. "Being here in a world I'm not familiar with makes me lonely and since I think I would be stuck with you for a while then maybe I should make the best out of everything while I'm here."
"While I'm here." Jennie repeated as she avoided Lisa's gaze but returned it with a glint of anger in her eyes. "So when do you plan to leave then?" She sternly asked.
"It's not what I meant—"
"Didn't you hear yourself? I heard you loud and clear and it looks like you're telling me that you're stuck with me because you pity me. After all, I'm alone all by myself and then when I finally can be happy with myself you'll leave me, right? First, your plan was to get your necklace back, now you have it. What else do you plan? How many plans do you even have in your pocket?!" Jennie yelled as her tears rolled down her cheeks.
"No." Lisa sighed as she shook her head. "You're wrong, it's not what I'm trying to say." She softly said.
"Just stop, alright?!" Jennie shouted and her eyes widened when Lisa grabbed her face and closed their gap with a kiss. Jennie immediately pushed Lisa away, she was still shocked by the latter's action.
"I'm sorry!" Lisa immediately apologized. "I didn't—"
"Leave." Jennie sternly said.
"Jennie, I'm sorry." Lisa tried to reach Jennie's arm but the latter stepped back.
"I said leave! Get out!" Jennie yelled as she pointed at the door.
Lisa sighed and turned her heels to walk out of the house. She didn't mean to kiss Jennie but it somehow felt right. She was starting to feel something different towards Jennie but she couldn't tell if it was what she thought it was.
