When the two finally arrived at Jennie's house, the sun began to show up again as the sky was getting clearer.
"You're telling me your mood affects the weather?" Jennie questioned as she raised an eyebrow.
"Yes." Lisa nodded. "Cool, right?" She giggled as she snuggle with the towel that Jennie gave her.
"That's actually the worst." Jennie retorted. "Imagine being happy and all and then suddenly the rain ruined your mood just because a helpless fox was crying." Jennie shook her head. "It's like you're in need of attention and you want all to join you cry for something pathetic. How absurd." Lisa felt offended and she hung her head low after letting out a long sigh. Jennie then noticed that it suddenly began cloudy outside again. "Not again." She mumbled.
"If only you were in my shoes then you'd understand why." Lisa slowly lifted her head to meet Jennie's eyes with her watery ones.
"If you're going to say something about the necklace—"
"You're right. I'm helpless. I couldn't defend myself when those men tried to assault me." Lisa began to sob. Jennie cursed herself for being tactless. She felt guilty but a part of her told her it was just right to hurt Lisa's feelings.
"How did you even get into that situation?" Jennie asked, trying not to sound concerned.
"I was really hungry and I saw a food cart. I didn't have money in exchange for the food and so the vendor shooed me away. Then two men approached me and they told me they were giving food for free so I went with them. But when we were finally away from the people, they started to use their force on me and I couldn't defend myself." Lisa told Jennie as she sniffled.
"So...your hunger brought you into that?" Jennie asked and Lisa just nodded. She held back her laughter. How could a gumiho who was living longer than her be so naive? She suddenly pitied her. Without saying a word, Jennie stood up.
"Where are you going?" Lisa asked.
"Just stay there. I'll be back." Jennie said and she went to the kitchen to cook something for Lisa. Good thing Jennie bought meat at the market earlier.
Lisa then began to smell something tasty from the kitchen. Even though Jennie told her to stay on the couch, she stood up and walked cautiously to the kitchen so Jennie wouldn't notice. Lisa's stomach began to grumble in hunger and Jennie heard it so she turned her head to her.
"You really don't know how to obey orders, do you?" Jennie said and turned off the stove.
"You're not even my master to begin with." Lisa mumbled. Jennie rolled her eyes as she served the dish to Lisa and she handed her a chopstick.
"Eat up." Jennie said and sat across Lisa who was looking confused at the chopstick. "Don't tell me you don't even know how to use that." Jennie deadpanned and Lisa looked at her.
"Uh...yeah." Lisa said. "I might be living long enough as a gumiho but that doesn't mean I know everything about this...outside world."
"A primitive fox, I see." Jennie nodded and Lisa glared at her. "How is that even possible when you seem like always around here eating anyone's liver?" Jennie curiously asked.
"I'm not always here, okay? I sneak out of the temple if I had the chance. And now that I don't have what's mine then I'm here. The gods punished me and they're not even going to help me get back my belonging."
"Well, I got to be honest. I love your gods for being intellectuals." Jennie smirked.
"Very funny." Lisa sarcastically said and used her hands instead of the chopstick. But before Lisa could even touch the food, her hand got slapped by Jennie. "What now?!" Jennie picked up the chopstick and fed Lisa herself.
"Here." Jennie said as she brought the pork to Lisa's mouth. "Eat this."
"You know I don't eat just any meat."
"Fine." Jennie brought back the pork on the plate at pulled it away from Lisa. "Starve then." Jennie stood up, bringing the dish with her.
"No, wait!" Lisa stopped Jennie and she sighed. "I'll eat it." She mumbled and Jennie smirked as she put the plate back in front of Lisa. She taught Lisa how to use the chopstick so it wouldn't be messy. Jennie just hated messy things, she's the perfectionist type.
Once Lisa took a bite of the meat, she felt herself melt to the taste. And she'd lie if she'd say the meat wasn't good. In fact, it was much tastier than the liver she was eating all her life.
"Hmm, what meat is this? This is so good!" Lisa said with her mouth full and shoved another piece in her mouth.
"It's just pork." Jennie said as she watched Lisa with a disgusted look on her face. "Should I also teach you table manners?" Jennie sarcastically said.
"This is my first time eating on a table so pardon my manner." Lisa said after she swallowed the food and Jennie rolled her eyes.
"First of all, don't talk when your mouth is full. Second, just put enough food in your mouth unless you want to choke and die."
"I can die from eating a delicious meal?" Lisa surprisingly asked as she shoved another meat in her mouth.
"You can try for yourself." Jennie sarcastically said. "And lastly, don't be a messy eater. You look disgusting." Jennie shook her head and reached for a tissue paper near her and wiped Lisa's stained lips.
"Hey, thanks for this." Lisa said. "Tell me, how should I repay you?"
Jennie paused and thought for a while. Lisa should pay not just for the help that she did to her but also for killing the one Jennie loved. It happened hundred years ago but it was still fresh in Jennie's mind. Just thinking of it made her blood boil. Oh wait, she didn't have one.
"Okay, I'll offer a place to stay here but—" Jennie paused. "you'll obey everything I'll say."
