Strange Love

Chapter 2~School

    "Wake up sleepy head." Kyoko said after she swiftly opened the curtain attached to Eleanor's new bed. Eleanor groaned and hid her face in her now dry pillow to hide her eyes from the sunlight. "You have to get up, we have school." Kyoko sang, then hopped down and started to get herself ready. Eleanor sat up and rubbed her eyes. So it wasn't a dream. Eleanor thought to herself before she climbed down the ladder and lazily walked over to the big window. The curtains were wide open and the sun was peeking out over the horizon. She slumped over to her shared dresser and pulled out her uniform as well as the papers and her keyl. Her clothes from yesterday were neatly folded in there as well. She couldn't recall putting them in there but then heard someone clear their throat. Eleanor turned around and saw Anne standing behind her, already in her uniform.

     "I put them in there, you left them in the bathroom. I hope you don't mind." Anne explained and Eleanor sighed to herself.

     "I'm sorry, I forgot them there." Eleanor said but Anne smiled.

     "It's okay." She said then walked off to finish getting ready. Kyoko walked up to Eleanor and pointed to her papers.

     "Whatcha got there?" She asked.

     "Just some papers. Some are for my classes and some about the different clubs here. I also have a map of the school but it looks confusing. " Eleanor said and Kyoko lit up.

     "You should check out the drama club. Sheila's in it, right Sheila." The two turned to Sheila who just walked out of the bathroom. She walked over to the two and thought for a moment.

     "I think we could use another member." She said.

     "I've never been in a play before." Eleanor said.

     "We could use another to help with the lights." Sheila suggested but then spoke again. "What about costumes, we could always use more help with that." Eleanor smiled at the idea.

     "I love making clothes." She said.

     "I'm sure they'll let you in." Sheila said. "You should come by after school."

     "Maybe you could wait with Sheila so we can meet up and go shopping after." Kyoko said.

     "Oh please, you just wanna see Louis." Anne muttered.

     "No I don't." Kyoko pouted while crossing her arms.

     "Who's Louis?" Eleanor asked.

     "Only the most handsome red dear ever, he's also very popular. Oh, and did I say handsome." Kyoko said as if she had hearts for eyes. The three other girls laughed.

     "Not gonna happen, Kyoko." Sheila said before flicking her forehead. Eleanor laughed then grabbed her uniform and quickly walked to the bathroom but turned around before walking in.

     "Um, how much time do we have?" Eleanor asked.

     "About an hour until we have to go to class, were going to go to the cafeteria and eat. You can come if you want, we'll wait for you." Anne explained and Eleanor nodded.

     "Is it okay if I take a quick shower before we go?" Eleanor asked and everyone nodded. She walked into the clean bathroom and pulled out a clean towel from under the sink before setting it on the counter. As she stood in the shower, warm water raining on her, she saw something on her legs. A long scar running across the bottom of one thigh, the same mark on the other leg. They fit together to make one long line. So I really did get run over by a train. She told herself. She still couldn't believe that she was in a completely different world than hers. Another thought popped into her head and she gasped. Am I really dead? I should be dead, right? Is this heaven or something? I don't think this is what heaven would look like. Eleanor set aside those thoughts for another time and quickly washed her hair then got out of the shower. The mirror was foggy and wet. Eleanor drew a face in the mirror before wiping it away with her hand. Her eyes grew wide as she leaned over the sink to get a closer look in the mirror. Her chest has a long scar that ran from one side to the other matching the like her legs made.

     Her wet, brown hair dripped down her back making her shiver. She dried off even more before putting on her uniform. Under the sink was also a hairdryer which Eleanor used to her advantage although only drying her hair half way before she left that bathroom.

     Eleanor, Sheila, Kyoko, and Anne all made there way to the cafeteria, ready for some food. As they passed a group of four animals, they couldn't help but hear them talk about one of the students being murdered. Eleanor and her roommates all worriedly looked at each other before walking the stand with stacks of newspapers. After reading for a few seconds Sheila gasped a little.

     "Tem was the student who was killed. It was this morning." She said with saddened eyes. Eleanor's shoulders slumped thinking about the tragedy that happened not long ago.

     "I knew Tem, he was an alpaca, but even though he was a herbivore he didn't care what species you were, he was always nice." Anne said with a low voice. Eleanor laid her hand on Anne's shoulder and Anne smiled a little showing she was okay.

     "I'm sorry, Anne." Kyoko said.

     "It's okay, he's in a better place now, right?" Anne asked and Eleanor nodded.

     "Of course he is." Eleanor said softly.

     "I'm not sure I'm hungry any more." Kyoko said and everyone also agreed. Sheila put her arm around Anne's shoulders to comfort her as the four of them started to slowly walk to their classes instead of the cafeteria.

     "So what classes do you have, Eleanor?" Kyoko asked. Eleanor looked through the papers in her hands to find her schedule. After Eleanor found it she handed it to Kyoko for her to analyze. "It looks like you have a few classes with us. But first period you have with me." Kyoko said and hooked her arm with Eleanor's.

     After school and hours of people staring at Eleanor, she looked at her map and headed over to the room, taking a few ring turns of course. After glancing at the map again, she made a right. Taking another wrong turn she ended up in a hall that led to doors that had yellow tape across them saying 'Keep Out'. Eleanor slowly walked to the door and stopped to look down at the many bouquets of flowers along with some snacks and a picture of an alpaca. This must be Tem. Eleanor thought to herself before kneeling down to look at the picture more closely. She shook her head and stood up, looking at the map again. The map was upside-down. Eleanor looked back at the picture of Tem. "I'll be back with some flowers tomorrow." She whispered to herself then quickly made her way to the drama room.
