Ophelia's POV

I huffed and tried to take more breaths after I shoved my last piece of the coat into my luggage like took me forever. I sat on the luggage before zipping it as I slumped my shoulders down like a deflated balloon.

I hate packing very much but I enjoy traveling. I should have had someone would pack the luggage for me and the problem was solved.

"You did it, sweetheart!" mum proudly beamed at me like I had accomplished an important project in the business.

I tilted my face to look up at mum and snorted, "Yes, mission completed, mum." I lazily played a peace sign at her as she chuckled with shook her head. She reached over the foot of my bed and took the coat and the beanie as she stretched a hand toward me, "It's time to go, or you might catch for another flight."

I groaned and took her hand for me to put on my feet as I took the coat and beanie from mom before pulling the luggage along with me and putting them in the living room before going to the dining room to have breakfast with mum.

I was salivating when I smelled the aroma of my favorite breakfast cooked by mom and I slipped onto the chair and devoured the food like there had no tomorrow. I bet most of the kids would be thrilled whenever they ate their favorite mom's cooking.

"Oh god, pancake from Chef Olivia is my favorite all the time," I moaned in satisfaction while chewing the food and I eagerly took another slice of the pancake to eat. Mom didn't eat but kept watching me with a smile, "You're such a child."

I glance at my mom before putting the honey syrup on the pancake and said with a mouthful of food since I was in a hurry, "I'm still 5, mom."

I quickly swallowed down the food as I stifled my laughter when mom wrinkled her nose in disapproval, "Look at you, sweetheart. How can you get a date with such a manner?"

"Well, I don't think she would mind if she loves me," I winked at mum before I took a napkin to wipe my lips and I quickly pointed out, "A true love would love each other's inside out. Just like you and dad."

Mom rolled her eyes with a chuckled and she seemed defeated, "Alright, you win." I grinned at her smugly before reaching over her and wrapping her in my arms, "That's why I'll always love you over dad a little because you'll always let me win."

I pulled away and kissed her cheek as mom gently tapped my nose with a forefinger, "I should have to accept where you get this from."

"The only Mr. Kendrick in this house," I replied with a grin.

While I was at the doorstep of the front door of our house after our breakfast, my heart was weighed when I saw mom's pale blue eyes filling with tears but she remained her motherly smile at me. Before I could say goodbye, mom wrapped her arms around me and drew me into her embrace.

"It's kinda hard to watch you leave me like that. I'll gonna miss you, sweetheart," I could hear mom say in her trembled voice.

"Stop it, mom," I interjected while holding my tears and said, "I'll come back with dad anytime whenever we want to."

"I know you will, sweetheart," mum said with a sniffle as she pulled away. In the meantime, I felt tears streaming down my face as I whined, "Don't cry, mom. I'm not supposed to cry."

A peal of laughter came from mum as she sniffed softly and cupped my face, "Take care when you at there, okay. You can always tell dad if you decided to quit."

"I know, mom. I'll take care of myself," I assured mum as she nodded her head at me before kissing my forehead and mumbled, "Safe flight, sweetheart. Call me after you reached New York, okay?"
