Poets

22 5 7

If I were a poet
I'd speek these words so softly
I'd take my pain
And make it art
Let people applaud
My tears on paper
And you would never ever
Break my heart

If I were a poet
I'd let you know my feelings
I'd take my thoughts
And make life work
Let people in on a secret
To let the healing start
And you would never wonder
Why we grow apart

If I were a poet
I'd said all that already
I'd close my eyes
And trust the world
I'd take a leap
And do my part
So you would remember
To let down your guard
