Maria lay on the floor of her one bedroom apartment, stars in her eyes as she gazed at the roof. She felt Klaus' presence beside her as the lay in silence.

"Klaus." She slurred, her voice slicing through the silence that layered the room. "What's your deepest desire?" Maria's eyebrows furrowed as her words were merely met with silence. Grumbling, she rolled onto her stomach and forced herself to raise her elbows and rest her head on her hands. Squinting her eyes, she caught sight of the Hargreeves boy staring at her with glazed eyes, his expression unreadable. "Klaus." She repeated, her tongue heavy and her head light. "What's your -"

"You." He interrupted. He spoke softly yet firmly, as if he had known from the first moment he had seen her. "It's you."
