Cassie did not remember what happened last night. She had drinks with the girls but that was all.
But as soon as she sat up, it was like a wave hit her; hard and blinding, she closed her eyes as she placed a hand on her forehead; wincing from the pain in her head.
Gently, she slowly opened her eyes and looked around her to remember where she was;
Posters......everywhere, James Bond’s poster, Batman’s poster and Jackie Chan’s posters.
“Where am I?” she blurted, looking at the side of the bed to see anything that looks familiar.
The door opened and Emily entered with a glass of water in her hand, she walked towards her.
“Emily, what am I doing here?” She asked her friend: who they both had drinks last night at the Arcade games bar.
Emily nod her to drink as she gave her the glass with a smile. “There wasn’t any space to keep you guys in my room, so I brought you here besides, you are lucky Luke is not around to question you; about why you came home drunk.”
Right, Luke; Emily's fourteen year old brother; her memories came back.
“You mean we came home drunk?” A sleepy voice from beside the bed on the right spoke.
Cassie had to look down at the floor. She was stunned. Elisabeth who never likes sleeping on the floor actually slept on the floor.
“Lisa, you.....slept on the ground” Cassie questioned. It was hard to believe indeed.
Every time they had a sleepover at her house; Elisabeth slept with her on her bed. But in Emily’s house, her bed wasn’t big enough for two; she would fold herself close to Cassie in the blanket they laid.
But deliberately? Elisabeth would never voluntarily do it.
“You do the worst things when you are drunk.” Emily clarified with a smile as she shrugged.
There came a groan from Elisabeth as she sat up. “You are noisy, I can’t sleep.”
Cassandra looked at her friends; then her memories came like a rush of wind: they had celebrate Emily last night because her friend was no longer a sinister; she was engaged to be married in three months and all the girls did was; play games, sing, danced and drank to their heart content, only to be driven here last night by Fred; Emily’s fiancée; who helped them get into bed and she was sure her friend didn’t go to bed immediately. She looked too sober to be able to have a reasonable conversation with them this morning; perhaps he stayed back to do......whatever they were doing.
She looked round again before dropping the water on the bedside and then she remembered they were four; where is Diana?
“Lisa, did you forget; your mom is coming over this morning?” Came the party bumper.
Elisabeth opened her eyes and she looked at the time close to the bed. “I still have time.” She said yawning and stretching her hands as she stood up.
“Where is Diana?’ Cassie asked as she dropped the glass on the desk close to the bed.
“She left; she said she has to meet her uncle at the airport, she was taking him to his doctor appointment.”
“On Saturday? I didn’t know a doctor holds appointments on Saturday?” Elisabeth said; picking up the blanket she used for the floor.
‘Money speaks; if you have your personal doctor, as far as you pay him; he is on his toes for you 24/7” Elisabeth added.
Cassie stood up and picked up her phone and keys. “By the way, where is Luke?” She asked.
“Summer school, staying with Aunt Eunice.”
She nodded, heading towards the door.
“Aren’t you going to staying for breakfast?” Emily asked.
Cassie shook her head as she picked up her shoes. “Sorry babe, I can’t have my mom thinking I don’t like her food.” She said and continued her walk.
Emily looked at Elisabeth as she looked round. “Lisa?” she was not staying too.
Elisabeth looked up at her friend from where she was looking for her shoes. “Sorry babe, Mom is coming, you just reminded me.”
“I will call you.” Cassie said before she was out of earshot.
Emily just nodded. She couldn’t blame them; they all had things to catch up with beside it was morning anyways.
Last night, the girls had come here in their different cars; before they headed to the Arcade in Emily’s car. Diana’s family was the most wealthiest among them and next was Elisabeth; while Emily and her lived comfortably, the family‘s income stable; financial income stable; it wasn’t like they were in need. Emily’s family had two cars while Cassie’s family shared cars with her younger brother and her parents. Life was comfortable for them.
If they needed anything they could rely on one another.
