“So, Cassandra.......what?”
She paused about to try her potato chips in front of her. “Angelo.” She didn’t know what he wanted to do with her complete name.
“That is a perfect name for a pretty lady.”
She looked at him and pretended to smile. If he didn’t stop calling her pretty, she could leave here for him. She was pretty, beautiful, she knew that. She brought him lunch and he wanted to have a conversation; couldn’t he just get to it.
“So, what do you do?” He asked starting to eat.
“I am a programmer and a computer designer but I haven’t found a job yet.”
“Yeah, this country can be pretty F**ked up.”
And he swears a lot. Wow.
“And you? Mummy’s boy or the richest son?” She asked jokingly; making sure he heard the humor in her voice; she drank her juice. He sounded like one of those category; a guy approaches every lady that wasn’t wearing a ring, every lady that have a sorry-I- am-still-single-and-searching look on her face.
“The youngest son of the owner of Winston and Cistern.” He said as he sat back on his chair and gave a wide grin; like it was one of the greatest achievements in his life.
Winston and Cistern had a school; a factory and university. His father was rich.....yes....so what?
“That is great.”
“Yeah, you can imagine.”
Of course she could. Line of Cars; houses in different places; of course she could.
“So, what were you doing at the company today?”
“Dad said; I needed to make something out of myself. I am artiste; I am a rapper; he said the entertainment industry can crumble. Why do parents not like music?” He asked her.
They liked tradition music; songs which they can totally relate to. “I wonder.” She said trying to flow with the conversation.
“So, I decided to do what he wants; He wants me to come work here. I don’t think I will last a few days.”
She shrugged. “You never know if you don’t try.”
He looked at her, as if realizing some sense in what she just said. “How about we work together, Cassandra?”
She looked at him. “I don’t understand.”
“I can talk to my dad, into give you a position here and I could work along, side you.” He suggested.
Winston and Cistern, at the rate, which they are firing people? Why didn’t he ask his dad why the employees were reducing; his dad has to fire some people to create any vacant needed spot for her?
“No, I don’t think.......” It was worse if it was any more persons in that room, Dylan was in.
“Really, think about it. We didn’t meet twice for no reason.”
She chuckled. “What?” He was going somewhere with this.
“I was thinking about you; since we met in the elevator and then we met again and now we are having lunch; will it be too much to say I am starting to like you.”
She almost laughed. “What?” So soon?
He smiled. “And I do have a strong feeling you like me back.”
Is he kidding? Really? “Really, how did you confirm that?” She was double curious.
“If you didn’t like me; you wouldn’t have brought me here, we won’t be having lunch and we wouldn’t be having this conversation.”
Wow. Was that what they taught him, that was just pure etiquette? “What?” She laughed.
“I didn’t die; perhaps God wanted us to build something out of this. Perhaps, you are going to fall for me.”
“What, really?” She laughed. She doubt that.
So many words; she didn’t even know what to say. Her phone rang interpreting his next choice of words.
She gladly excused herself with her phone in her hand.
“Hey, Cassie.” Emily’s voice came over the phone.
She laughed.
“What is it?”
“Guess what I am doing, Emily?”
“Hmm....going over your resume again?”
She smiled. “I am in Winston and Cistern’s canteen having lunch; with a guy who thinks we have been joined by fate.”
“Wow. Looks like we didn’t have a find a boyfriend for you after all, he just had to reach you some way.”
“I just met this one and I don’t like him.”
There was a pause. “Cassie, you should not conclude like that. Maybe it is just too soon yet.”
Really? She have been with this guy for less than fifteen minutes; a lot of things was wrong about him.
“Alright, Cassie. Is he funny?”
She looked back into the canteen; Christian was seated with his phone; at the same time he looked around.
A young tycoon, rapper, confident, precise, believes in fate; not bad looking; she wondered what other girls do when he told them that exact same line and wanted them to be together.
Funny? She remembered Emily’s question. “Well, try to be.”
“Cassie, try him out; if he doesn’t work out; cut the rope of fate that tie you both together.”
Cassie smiled at Emily’s words as she hung up.
She looked at him again as the waitress came over their table; she stood there for about ten minutes before leaving and then she added to his personality; a flirt.
Could she really try him out? Emily’s wedding was in three months, maybe he’d go with her; that was if they were still together.
She moved to the table.
“Sorry. My friend.” She explained her delay.
He shook his head. “No worries.” He checked his time.
She looked at him; she wondered what other engagements he had at 2pm in the afternoon.
“How about you give me; your number, I will call to tell you the good news.”
She looked at him; smiled and collected his phone from him and input her number on the screen. He collected it and dialed it. She hadn’t even begun thinking about the possibility of working in Winston and Cistern with the state of the company right now.
“That is my phone number.” He said when her phone rang.
She nodded as she raised her phone to see the missed call.
“I have a shoot to cover today. I will call you, when I am done.” He said as he stood up.
She just nodded.
When he passed her chair; he stopped like he remembered something. “Cassandra.”
She turned to him.
“Can we meet tomorrow, if you have time that is?”
She didn’t think. “Okay.”
He smiled. “I’ll call you.” He excused himself.
So, she was getting herself a boyfriend and a date to Emily’s wedding and she didn’t seem excited about it.
Why she should be? He was just a guy.
