SOME DAYS

****IKATLONG KABANATA****

     He put down his gun on the desk beside his bed and went to the bathroom and washed his face. Then after that he walk around his cabin thinking of the boy that he left on the cage. Kinuha nya ang kaha ng sigarilyo and lit it.

     He opened the window and blew the smoke outside. He was contemplating if he's going to tell Xavier about the package. Will it be safe for the boy if Xavier would know, too? Although he trusts Xavier, he didn't know of how will he take the idea that a creature like Elijah exists if he himself still cannot believe it.

     It was dark outside but the night sky was filled with constellations of stars that serves as its own lights. He can hear the sea buzzing with its rushing strength, its waves drubbing on the vessel's metal body. The salty air hitting his face na humahalo na sa amoy ng sigarilyo.

     After finishing the cancer stick, he took out his phone on his pocket and was about to google something but his internet connection is not cooperating and he didn't get anything.

     Fuck! Why the fuck the internet isn't working? After a few minutes his internet still not working. He needed to find something or just anything about the boy's kind real fast or else, He'll go crazy.

     He heard someone knocked on his door.

"Bruh, you there?" It was Xavier.

     He opened his cabin scowling, dito nya naibuhos ang frustration nya sa internet connection. "What!?"

     "Hey, man... Chill...I was just gonna ask if you're going to eat because it's dinner time already."

     He massages his forehead. "Okay, susunod ako."

     "What happened?" Pagtataka nito dahil okay pa sya kanina bago sya bumaba ng cabin.

     Kokoy pulled the other guy inside his cabin then sticks his head out the hallway to check if there are other people outside and locked the door deliberately once it was cleared.

     Then next, he scans his room for possible bugs. He might look like over-reacting but he really is, it has been part of his job to always double check and familiarize himself with the place he was staying in. He checks the common places that he can find hidden cameras or speakers such as electric outlets, lamps, cushions, smoke detectors.

     On the other side of the room is Xavier with a very puzzling expression. "What is happening, man...?"

     "Where's your phone?" He asked him.

     Xavier took out his phone from his pocket and hand it to him.

      He went inside his bathroom and put both of their phones inside the medicine cabinet before opening the faucet then he closed the door.

     He also closed his windows before talking. "You will never believe what I have seen." He grabbed the cigarette packet on his bedside table and took one stick and lit it. He was tense. He can feel his hand trembling.

     "Is it about the package?"

     He nodded then lumakad-lakad sa paligid around his cabin. Halos kumalat na ang usok sa buong kwarto.

     "I knew it! Babae yung laman ng box?" He wrong concluded.

     "Siraulo! Hindi. There's something more."

     "So, lalaki?" Xavier reached for the cigarette packet and took one and lit it. "I didn't know Gaspar swing that way."

     "Good looking ka lang talaga pero tanga ka eh." Sabi nya dito.

     "Then what was it?" Sumandal ito sa wall. "Stop the clip hanging, bruh!"

     "Would you believe it if I tell you that that package contains a hybrid?"

     "What do you mean by Hybrid?" He asked enthusiastically.

     He sat on the sofa at nagbuga ng usok, his cigarette's ashes were already dropping down the floor. "Like half-human, half-something else."

     "You mean, like half-Spanish, half-sardines? That's normal bruh, it's like having an American wife, then you'll have a child, that child would turn out to be half-American, half-monkey." He well explained.

     "It was a cat hybrid this time." He said breaking it to him.

     "Huh? Again?" Xavier asked while sticking out his ear close to his side, confirming if what he heard was right.

     "It was a cat hybrid, half-human, half cat." Hinithit nya ulit ang sigarilyo nya. "I'm still shock until now, didn't know such myth exists."

     "A cat hybrid, huh...?" Xavier chuckled silently, pero maya-maya lang lumalakas na iyon hanggang sa hawak-hawak na nito ang tiyan nito. "Bruh, high ka ba?"

     Kokoy wanted to groan in frustration. He shouldn't have told him about it. It was a bad idea opening up a secret to a retard.

     "Stop it!" Awat nya dito.

     "Okay, I'll stop." Sabi nito pero tumawa ulit ng malakas. Minuto muna ang lumipas bago ito tumigil. "Akala ko naman kung ano na nakita mo, pusa lang pala. Makapag-check ka naman ng perimeter kanina." He walks through his bathroom then opened up the medicine cabinet and took his phone out and turned off the running faucet.

     "Why did I even tell you that, you have a brain with a size of a chicken." Kinuha nya ang ash tray at idiniin doon ang cigarette butt but lit another stick because he's still in shock, he needs something to calm him down.

     "Bruh, I am the most good-looking chicken you will ever meet, be grateful, nut-job!" Then he went out of his room. "Tara na sa upper deck, gutom ka lang kaya kung ano-ano na nakikita mo." He said while walking away.

     "Asshat..." He murmured before Xavier was able to shut the door hoping he'd hear it.

     He stood up at pinatay ang sigarilyo then pumunta sa bathroom to get his phone inside the medicine cabinet. He unlocked his phone and check if there's signal already just to get disappointed ng lalong nawalan ng signal bar ang kanyang cellphone.

     Fuck... Kating-kati na syang mag-research. He went out of his cabin and lock his door then went to the bar counter and ordered a bottle of whiskey, he needed alcohol right now. Wanting to lessen his frustration he drunk from the bottle itself kahit hindi pa sya kumakain.
