| Wonderment |
He waves at me while his face was plastered with a grin.
I walk towards him knowing he has something to say.
"What do you want?" I say to him once I was at close enough range.
"Have you heard?"
"If you're talking about the pictures then yes."
"You better watch out," He leans down at my eye level. "People here are like hawks, you never know when they will be watching. Also make sure you keep him close because if he likes you, I'm sure he would love to date any other girl here."
It feels like he was staring into my soul when he said those words. Obviously, his remarks were an insult. Having no friends here, it's not surprising that people would have such an idea of me.
My grip to my hands tighten on my backpack straps as anger and fear filled my emotions.
"You have no right to say that. None of you know who he is so stop following me."
He stands up straight again before replying, "I knew you were smart. How about that necklace of yours, we will be off your back after that." The boy opens his palms out, waiting for me to give him the jewelry.
"I'm sorry if interrupting anything but I don't think she will be giving you anything."
Someone from behind rested their hand on my shoulders, making me stay still. I turn around and see Vernon glaring at the boy in front of us.
The boy scoffs, "You aren't making things any better Akari. We will give you time but until then, have your guard up."
He walks off leaving Vernon and I standing there.
"Come, he is waiting."
Vernon moves his hands so one held my own. With students watching, I removed my hands from his grasp and walk towards the parking lot.
He jogged to my side, still confused of the situation.
"He's over there." The male points to a the familiar white car.
I get in the backseat, behind the passenger side that Vernon is sitting in.
"So what was that all about?" Both the boys turned their bodies to the middle opening to face me.
"Just some dude I got into a fight with not too long ago, no biggie." I reply back.
Vernon takes glances at Shua while the other male continues to glare at me.
"Fine, be like that then." Shua says before turning around.
Vernon's eyes turn soft, probably in understanding of the situation. He then turns to the front and puts on his seatbelt.
I look outside the window, watching the students who where looking at the car as we drove off.
I'm still unsure of how to handle the situation. Everyone was normally kept to themselves, why did this happen? Just saying it was because of a necklace is beyond stupid.
I continue to ponder over the subject while we drove to wherever destination we're headed too.
Finally the cars stops, having us parked infront of Baslies. I get my bag and head towards the doors. Walking in, Auntie gives me a wave while I enter the changing room. After getting in my work cloths, I walk out the room doors to start my shift.
I find Shua and Vernon settled at a booth with a girl. She sits next to Vernon while they seem like they're playing around.
Auntie hands me a tray that held water and lemonade. "Give this to table five, hand table eleven their receipt, then take your friend's order, ok?"
I nod at her and head to do my duties.
"I have two waters and a lemonade for table five." I say as I serve the family their drinks. The baby sitting at the end gives an enthusiastic wave. I give him a smile and wave back and continue to the next table.
"Here's your card. Thank you for dining with us this evening. I hope you will join us again in the future." The two ladies get up to leave after I gave them their credit card.
I put the black tray under the counter and grab the notepad and pen. Walking towards their table, I notice the girl still there. Who is she?
"Good afternoon, welcome to Baslies. My name is Akari, I will be your server today. Can I start you off with a drink?"
I finally see the girl sitting with them. She has pale skin with hints of pink. Her hair was an ash color but curly/frizzy. She is very pretty.
"Uhh... this is Sofia, my younger sister."
She gives a toothy smile, one similar to her brother. No wonder.
I give her one back.
"Nice to me you Akari, I heard a lot about you."
"Oh, you did?"
"Yeah, they-"
Vernon slaps his hand over her mouth to keep her from saying anything else.
Shua coughs, "Um... I will take the lemonade."
"Ok, what would you guys like?" I say to prevent pushing the conversation.
"We'll get the same." Vernon says, still keeping Sofia silent.
"Sure, so three lemonades?"
They nod.
"Ok, I will be back with your drinks and ready to take your order."
I go back to the kitchen, ready to prepare the beverages. My mind clouded with confusion.
I don't understand what's happening. What did I do?
I have no clue what is happening with this story anymore.
