I'm almost done writing this fanfic and I'm not sure how to feel.
Anyways...enjoy! :) <3

For once, Gabriel Agreste didn't book his son's week full of photoshoots, and Hawkmoth decided to take a week off. Adrien couldn't be more grateful. After all, it made it all the easier to avoid Marinette, and by default, Ladybug.
It wasn't as if he could avoid her entirely. They lived together, after all, but it was much easier to stay away when they weren't working so closely together. Unfortunately, Adrien soon found out that even living together, even if they weren't talking, wasn't much better when it came to keeping the temptation away.
Three curt knocks sounded at the door, and Adrien paused in front of the full-length mirror in his room. After a brief silence, a string of rapid pounding at the door that seemed quite like a machine-gun told Adrien all he needed to know.
Adrien sighed, partly with relief, and partly with a treasonous disappointment. "Come in Alya." To Adrien's surprise, joy and dismay, the door swung open to reveal not only Alya, but Marinette behind her, who was chewing her lip rather aggressively.
"What," Alya demanded, "are you doing?" She surveyed the room with a distasteful snort at the mountains of clothes. "And I thought Marinette was the only one who tore her room apart like a rabid dog," she muttered.
"Alya!" Marinette shrieked, her eyes having gone wide with horror. Already, Adrien could see the fierce blush that was climbing her cheeks. Seeing her so flustered was rather cute. He suppressed a smile.
Instead, Adrien sighed once more and turned back to the mirror, fixing a button on his suit as Alya swiftly sat down on his bed, Marinette standing awkwardly beside her. "Is everything alright?" Adrien asked as Alya glared at him through the mirror.
"What are you doing?" Alya reiterated, her eyes darting at the cyclone of clothes.
"I'm getting ready for a date," Adrien answered, as calmly as he could. His eyes glanced towards Marinette despite himself, and his heart wrenched to see the momentary flicker of heartbreak that flitted across her face.
"A DATE?!" Alya shrieked, grabbing onto Marinette's hand like it was her lifeline.
"Yeah," Adrien replied smoothly. "A date. You've heard of them, right? You and Nino go on them all the time." Adrien stiffened. This wasn't like him. He would never even think about saying something like that normally, but he was restless and agitated. Was it because Marinette was here? He couldn't be sure.
"So why are you here?" Adrien asked, before hastily adding, "not that you're not welcome. But you don't even come to my room unless you want something."
"I just wanted to know why you and Marinette are acting so weird around each other," Alya said noncholantly, already halfway out the door, dragging Marinette with her.
Both Adrien and Marinette visibly flinched but luckily, Alya didn't seem to notice. "Well," Alya continued, "have fun on your date!"
Is it that obvious? Adrien thought, slightly dizzily, as the door closed.
"It is that obvious," Plagg said, flying up from the pile of clothes he was hiding in.
Adrien scowled at him. "Come on, let's go. Wouldn't want to keep Kagami waiting."
***
Kagami's family was nearly as rich as Adrien's, which meant, naturally, that they would go to a resturant with prices high enough to make a normal person faint.
Adrien waited on the steps of the building, his head snapping up as he spotted a figure approaching. His heart leapt as he caught sight of raven hair, before settling like a boulder in his chest when he realized that it was only Kagami.
Stop it, he told himself. Of course it wouldn't be Marinette. You're going on a date with Kagami, and you'll show her a good time like you would for your lady.
Kagami was dressed beautifully, Adrien had to admit. Whereas Marinette was always soft pastel pinks and blues, Kagami donned a dress of striking crimson and gold. She looked regal, her sharp umber eyes regarding Adrien as if she was still evaluating whether or not he's worth her time.
Adrien managed a smile that he hoped looked more convincing that it felt. "Kagami," he greeted as she approached him, grateful that his voice turned out warmer than he thought it would.
"Adrien," she said with a nod, and he was surprised by the faint note of affection in her voice. "Shall we?"
Adrien nodded and together, they entered the restuarant.
As they chatted about their lives and their shared love for fencing, Adrien pleasantly realized that he did enjoy talking to Kagami. She was a lot more straightforward than Marinette was, sure, but under that diamond-hard shell, was someone soft and kind.
"How long have you been in Paris?" Adrien asked as they left the restuarant.
"I got here a month before school started," Kagami answered. "I have been here before though. You French people are just so," she wrinkled her nose. "Affectionate."
Adrien laughed, surprising both himself and Kagami. She gave him a small smile before taking his hand. "Come on," she said. "I know you've grown up here, but I want to show you my favourite spot in Paris so far."
They stumbled along, hand in hand, and Adrien wondered if this was something that could actually happen. If it could be something that not only allowed him to get over Ladybug, but something where he found himself loving Kagami as much as he did his lady.
Kagami had brought them to Pont Neuf, the oldest bridge in Paris. They stood together, their hands resting on the smooth stone that had been weathered by time. Adrien loved this bridge too. Even though it wasn't nearly as flashy or beautiful as Pont Alexandre III, there was something so elegant about it that Adrien had always enjoyed.
Ladybug would love this, he thought, while looking around, taking a deep breath and enjoying the view. The sun was setting, casting threads of gold in the amber sky, the clouds brushed with fire. Beneath them, the water lapped gently at the shore, while birds soared in the air.
Adrien stiffened as he felt a hand on his cheek, even though it was gentle. Kagami turned his head towards her, and his eyes widened as she brought her lips to his. He kissed her back, almost instinctively.
Blinking, the shock melted away and Adrien stumbled back from Kagami's embrace. The image of Marinette that had been seared in his mind melted as he realized what he had done.
"No," he whispered, his voice hoarse. "I mean—I can't."
Kagami blinked, her eyes darkening. "Why?" She asked. There was only the tiniest tinge of pain in her voice.
"I just—I just can't," Adrien said, a hand gripping his hair as the earth seemed to spin underneath him.
"Didn't you like our date?" Kagami demanded. "I thought you enjoyed it!"
"I did," Adrien gasped. "I did. I'm just not ready."
Kagami took a step forward and Adrien flinched, paralyzed. She brought a hand up to cup his cheek, her dark-brown eyes held no anger as they searched his face.
"I see," she murmured. "Your heart is still deciding." Her hand fell away and she took a step back. "I'll wait for you to decide," she said. "And once you've made your decision, I'll be here. Waiting."
