I'm home alone with no one but my dog for three days.
How fun.
This chapter is a little slow and I've been having a bit of a writer's block in general but hopefully it's okay.
Anyways...enjoy! :)

It turned out that Luka Couffaine didn't live far from Marinette. In fact, he lived right across the street in the other set of apartments that were solely for the use of the school's students.
Marinette thanked Adrien and his bodyguard before running up to the house. Luka didn't live in an apartment per se, but a one-story flat. Marinette and Alya had initially considered getting a flat instead of an apartment, but the apartment won in the end.
Ringing the bell, Marinette smoothed down her skirt as she shifted nervously from foot to foot. Luka swung open the door, his aqua-blue eyes widened with a little bit of surprise but his features quickly relaxed into his usual easy-going smile.
"Hey Mari," he said, stepping aside to allow her to come in. "Welcome. My sister and her girlfriend are home by the way, they live with me too."
"Your sister's girlfriend?" Marinette asked, trying to remember if she had ever seen anyone with Juleka before. A cheerful blond-haired, blue-eyed girl appeared at the forefront of her mind and Marinette snapped her fingers with the realization. "Oh! Rose! Right?"
As if on cue, Rose and Juleka entered the room from what seemed to be the kitchens.
"Hey Marinette," Juleka raised a hand in greeting.
"Hi Marinette!" Rose squeaked with all her usual cheer.
Marinette grinned, "Hey."
"So where do you want to work?" Luka asked, his voice soft and gentle. "There's the living room, the kitchen or my room."
"Anything's fine," Marinette answered as Rose and Juleka disappeared behind a door. "The living room?"
Luka nodded, "sounds good to me." They sat down on the ground around the small coffee table, leaning against the couches. "Let's see," he mused, tapping his pencil against his lips. "What battle should we choose? There are so many after all."
"Well," Marinette said, pulling out her laptop. "Let's check. Gee, there's so much. How about...the battle on the Plains of Abraham?"
"Okay," Luka said, scratching down the name of the battle. "What's it about?"
"Hmm," Marinette scanned the webpage quickly. "It says here that it was fought in Canada and determined the outcome of the Seven Years War."
"That sounds pretty important to me," Luka smiled. "Let's do that one then."
The hours ticked by rather quickly and by the time Marinette realized how much time had passed, it was already dark outside. Her eyes were sore from reading so many articles on the war, her hand cramped from all the note-taking. However, it was a very successful session indeed, as both she and Luka agreed they had more than enough information to start the project.
"Let's stop for today," Luka said, two hours later. "I think we've done enough for now. Would you like to stay over for dinner? Rose and Juleka are going out tonight but I can make us something quick. I can walk you home afterwards."
"That sounds great," Marinette smiled. "Thanks."
They packed up their things quickly and Marinette followed Luka into the kitchens. It was quite small, with white-marbled countertops, clean and pristine, not a speck of dust in sight.
