The picture above has nothing to do with the story. I chose it because Marinette's face is just plain funny

This is my longest chapter so far, over 2 000 words. Let me know if you guys like this longer length. Obviously, the longer it is the less frequently I'll be able to update but I wanna know what you guys think.

Anyways...enjoy! :)

Marinette couldn't sleep. She had been thinking of the breakup all night, an endless stream of questions asking if she had done the right thing constantly circled her mind. By the time morning came, she had barely gotten half an hour of rest.

This was not good. It was only the fourth day of school and she was already exhausted. Mentally, emotionally, physically. But then again, when was she not? Marinette couldn't but chuckle a little, the laugh was both sad and delirious.

Giving up the fight for rest, Marinette decided to get up and get ready for the day. Tikki watched sadly as her friend moved about the room, seemingly numb, her face frozen in grief. The kwami had tried all night to comfort Marinette but to no avail. Tikki told Marinette that it was the right thing to do, even though neither of them had expected it to happen. Ladybug and Chat Noir were both so happy in their relationship, the breakup came as swift as a storm, something no one was expecting.

Marinette plodded soundlessly from her room to the kitchens, surprised to see Adrien already there, stirring a cup of coffee absentmindedly, his eyes glassy and glazed over.

"Rough night?" Marinette asked, leaning against the counter. His gaze snapped to her, surprise widening his eyes as if he hadn't seen her entering the room.

"You could say that," Adrien responded, giving her a sad smile.

"Want to talk about it?" Marinette asked.

Adrien shrugged. "I'm not ready yet."

Marinette smiled, "I'll be here if you need to talk."

"I know you will," he said, his expression nothing but grateful. After a heartbeat, he added, almost sheepishly, "I forgot to tell you but I have a shoot today. The designer requests your presence."

Marinette blinked, rather surprised. She didn't expect to be going onto a set so soon and she could only nod eagerly. "Great," she said. "I'm not doing anything after school anyways." Besides, she added in her mind, it'll be a good way to distract myself from Chat.

Adrien smiled at her and Marinette smiled back, her heart skipping a beat. His eyes...they were so much like Chat's, green as grass and as bright as the sun. Just looking into them made her feel like she was warm and safe.

She couldn't do this. It was too much.

"I—I have to go," Marinette said, shooting up straight as if she was a puppet being jerked up by a string. "Some desgins I wanted to finish," she stammered. "Sorry."

Adrien raised a hand. "Bye," he called softly, but Marinette was already gone. From the inside of his shirt, Plagg shrugged as Adrien only shook his head lightly, smiling a little.

"The Seven Years War," Mrs. Bonnet lectured, "also known as the French and Indian War, the War of the Conquest, the Pomeranian War and many more, were mainly fought between which two great imperial superpowers?"

A girl near the front of the room raised her hand. The one that Adrien had sat with since the first day, Marinette realized.

"Yes, Kagami?" Mrs. Bonnet asked.
