"Danny!! Where the hell is my sweater?!"
I shouted at my sister as I was rummaging through the pile of clothes that was sitting in the middle of our room.
"I swear if I don't find it-" I stopped mid-sentence as I looked up at my sister.
She was standing in our bathroom doorway brushing her teeth; wearing my red cable knit sweater (the aforementioned sweater that I was looking for), a black tennis skirt, leggings and black Doc Marten boots.
She rolled her eyes at me and let out an annoyed 'ugh' sound, "I asked you two days ago if I could borrow it. I swear you have the memory span of a goldfish."
Danielle was my fraternal twin sister. So we didn't look exactly the same, but our tastes in music, clothes, and everything else however were very similar, yet very different. It's hard to explain.
"Shit, sorry. I forgot about that. What am I going to wear today then?"
"Why are you worrying about it so much? You've got a closet full of clothes, just pick whatever and hurry up! We're going to be late for our first day at school Lulu. Anyways, why are you so worried about what you're going to wear? Is it because you might bump into... JULIAN today?" She laughed as she walked towards the bathroom to continue brushing her teeth, and finish getting ready.
I couldn't help but grin like an idiot whenever I heard his name. "Duh! And don't you dare embarrass me in front of him Danny, I swear I'll never forgive you!"
"Agh, I will never do that to you, come on. What kind of a monster do you think I am? Oooh you know what will catch his attention? That blue dress you just got, the one with the sunflowers on it!"
I stood in front of my mirror, holding up the dress in front of me. It was pretty cute. I pulled it on, put some black sheer tights on and layered my leather jacket on top. This will do. I began to do my makeup.
"I look especially horrid today Danny. How am I supposed to impress him like this?" I sighed. Trusty cat eyes to the rescue! Even when I felt my worst, make-up managed to help me feel better. Sounds real superficial, but it works.
"Don't worry, you look fine. He'd be crazy not to notice you!", she assured me.
It was a chilly overcast morning today, my favorite kind of weather. Beautiful orange and red leaves were scattered about on the ground. 'Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want' was playing on our iPod, and Danny and I were sharing earphones. We shared basically everything, so sharing an iPod is normal for us.
This is my kind of day. Hopefully the rest of the day will be as nice, and I run into Julian. My heart did somersaults at the thought of even seeing him from afar. Even though I've known him for years, I still got really shy around him. I always feel like a deer caught in headlights when he speaks to me. This year, we are entering high school, and we'll be attending the same school together. I'll get to see him a lot more than just for a few minutes at Heather Valensi's house.
Danny and I sat down on the front steps of the school to wait for Heather, who was our best friend in the world. We started arguing over whose turn it was to choose a song, when suddenly a tall obnoxious blonde jumped in front of us. She was wearing a thick grey sweater with a hoodie, shorts, and black and white vans. Typical Heather.
She squealed, "HEY LOOK IT'S MY FAVORITE FOX TWINNIES!" We immediately jumped up and hugged her. I was so excited to see her again.
"How long has it been since we've seen each other? Feels like eons dude!" Danny gushed. Me and Heather laughed. It's literally only been a week since we last saw each other. But for us this was an eternity, since we've hung out together almost every single day since we were eight years old. But Heather went away with her family to her grandparent's house the week before school started, and that was the longest we have gone without seeing each other (even though we spoke on the phone every other day).
