Beetlejuice's POV:

I'd been watching this girl who'd moved in recently. She was probably about 20 or so. She hardly got outta bed at all. She would do nothing but stare into space or play on her phone thingy majig. That was until tonight when I stood watching her in the bathroom. She was hurting herself. I know I shoulda helped her but I couldn't. She would've freaked out. So I decided to introduce myself when she seemed more calm.

Third Person:

Y/N uncovered her ears and slowly opened her eyes, still seeing the man.

"I'm real, babes." He said in his gruff voice.

"Who are you?" She asked, still seeming terrified.

"I'm.. well, actually I can't tell ya." The man said as he slid his hand into his suit jacket pocket. "But I can show ya." He said as he handed the young woman a business card.

Y/N just looked at it in his hand. "What??" She said, looking back at him. "Why're you even in my house?!" She said, her voice raising slightly. "I'm calling the police." She said her hand already reaching for her phone, not taking her eyes off of the man in the striped suit.

"There's no point, they'd just run away like the cowards they are." He chuckled. "I'm a demon.." He said to the girl.

She looked at him in disbelief as he still tried insisting on her taking the business card. Y/N took the card. "Prove it." She said. "Prove you're a demon."

The man raised an eyebrow and teleported beside her, instead of in front of her. "How's that?" He asked, smiling smugly. "Not good enough?" He said as he began floating.

The young woman stared up at him, slightly amused. "So.. you're an actual demon?" She said as she looked down at the card. "Betelgeuse?" She whispered to herself, pronouncing it incorrectly. "Beetlejuice?" She said slightly louder, pronouncing it correctly this time. "Like the star?" Y/N asked as she looked up at the poltergeist.

The demon smiled. "Exactly like the star." He sat on the edge of the bed. "You looked like ya could've used a buddy."

She looked at him, tilting her head slightly. "What do you mean by that..?" She asked.

"Oh, I dunno, I guess it's me who needs a buddy." He chuckled. Beetlejuice was being nice to her since he understood what it was like to want to injure yourself. His life wasn't exactly fantabulous. Hint why he wasn't alive anymore. "What's yer name?" He asked.

"Oh, uh.. my name's Y/N." She said before sniffing the air. "Have you ever showered??" She pinched her nose with her index finger and her thumb.

"Nope. Water and I don't, uh.. mix very well." The demon said, shuddering at the thought. To be truthful, Beetlejuice was absolutely terrified of water. The poltergeist felt a tingle in his scalp as streaks of purple appeared in his hair.

The girl looked up at his hair. "Wait.. does your hair change colours?" She asked in bewilderment.

"Oh, uh, yes.." He said, glancing up at his hair. "It's a whole.. mood ring situation." He sighed.

"That's.. kind of cool." Y/N said, examining his hair.

"Heh.. it's a curse. Curtesy of my Mother." He chuckled. It wasn't a happy chuckle. It was more of an awkward/sad chuckle. The demon rubbed the back of his neck.

"You don't seem like a demon." The young woman said. "Plus, I thought demons were red and had pointy horns and a sharp tail."

"Eh, that's bullshit. And well, let's just say something happened and it just.. changed me." He said.

"Right.." She said, looking at him very suspiciously before yawning softly. The girl checked her phone. "It's late.." She muttered, sleepily rubbing her eyes.

"Oh- right. Sorry for disturbin' ya." He said, heading over to her bedroom door. "Uh, see ya." He said, walking out and closing the door behind him.

Y/N nodded. "See you.. I guess." She said as she switched off her lamp and laid back down. She curled up with her blankets, cuddling them until she fell asleep.

Beetlejuice teleported into the attic where Adam and Barbara Maitland were. The three had actually become well acquainted by this point and The Maitlands had basically parented the demon.

Adam looked up from the book he was reading to look at Beetlejuice. "Well..?"

The poltergeist sighed. "She's gone ta sleep."

The blonde woman looked at the demon. "Is she okay..?"

Beetlejuice scratched the top of his head. "Well, I kinda scared 'er a bit. Which is.. understandable." He gestured to himself.

The Maitlands glanced at each other and Barbara sighed. "Poor girl.." She frowned.

Adam looked at Beetlejuice. "You're going to have to watch over her and so help me if you do anything to her-"

The demon cut him off. "Yeah, yeah. Whatever."

"I'm being serious, Beetlejuice!" Adam said, closing his book.

Barbara looked at Adam. "I'm sure he won't do anything.. Will you, Beetlejuice?" She shot a warning look at him.

The poltergeist sighed. "I won't." He muttered.
