Making a Runner

Newts Pov~

When I woke up it was a little bit before the doors were about to open. I looked at Tommy the little bit of light was shining on his face perfectly and he was so handsome. He had his arms around my waist. I took my arm off his shoulder where it was close to falling asleep and started undo his fingers. When I was about to undo his arms and move from him, he tightened them so I couldnt leave. He was so cute.

"Tommy, Tommy!?" I said shacking him a littke bit. He tighten his grip for a second like you do when you are about to end a hug then he leaving me cold from where he had been cuddling me. He stirred awake and his hair was a mess but it was pretty cute.

"Morning shank." I whisperd I his ear.

"Morning to you to, what time is it?"

"I have no idea but the walls haven't opened yet."

"Yea well we should probably get going I have to work today."

He said it like he does when he doesnt want to leave and I think thats really cute plus I dont want to leave either. I stood up and grabbed the lamp then helped him stand but didnt let go of his hand. We walked back to the glade and held hands till the hammocks were in sight. I quickly pecked Tommy on the lips then went the other way. Before I went to my job I walked with Minho, Ben, and Alby to the door. We signed them off and started to walk back to the homestead.

"So wheres the greenie working today?" I askes

"Actualy he told me he wanted to be a runner but he wont make it but just in case I have one of the runners staying back to give him the test."

"o....okay."

"everything alright?" he said this with a concernd look

"huh um yea I got to go to work." And I walked off worried. A few guys yelled at me for not focusing but I could only think of Tommy.

Thomas's Pov~

I got scared when Newt left because I knew he'd go talk to Alby and he'd tell him that I was going to train to be a runner. But I couldn't think about it I had to go get ready.

When I got to the map room I knew I wasn't suppost to go in so I just knocked on the door. One of the boys I really didn't know came out I think his name was jason. He seemed annoyed when he came out but we walked to one end of the glade wall. He told me I had to run down to the other end of the wall back to him to the wall and back again. I got scared because thats a long way. But I stretched my legs and took a deep breath because I had to finish in ten minutes or less.

"READY SET GO."

I immediatly took off it was a little hard to breath but I got the hang of it and was down at the wall in no time. When I got back to him I had to go again but I made me feel good because quit a few gladers were standing next to him cheering me on. I made it to the wall and to him I  just a few minutes. When I got to him and everyone was whistling and patting me on the back. Alby walked up and patted me on the back.

"How long?" He asked

"8 minutes." Jason said

"Are you kidding me this shank finished in 8 minutes and he isnt even out of breath." That comment got a few more pats on the back a round of applause and a few whistles.
