Chapter 3

At his dads, he showed me where we would be sleeping. Of course we were both sleeping in the master bedroom. While he was downstairs cooking I flopped onto the bed and looked at my phone. 7:30pm. Fuck. Lexi must be freaking out. I dialled her number and rang. She picked up almost instantly.
"Hey, sorry i know I said I'd ring as soon as i got here but we all went out to dinner and it just got a bit busy."
"No, no its ok! I know your safe now that your with some other family."
"Yeah, I just need a break from everything you know?"
"Yeah, Im meeting up with George tonight"
"God, Lexi. Im not even gone a full day and you've picked up a boy!"
"Haha, yeah. I really like him. He's genuine but don't worry we are going out with a group of friends so we won't be alone too much."
"Good, you know how violent they can get."
"Yeah, anyway I got to go. I'll call you when Im home and tell you how things went, will you still be awake?"
"Yeah probably! Ok hun be safe okay?"
"Okay love you!"
"Love you Lexi."
I hung up and dropped my stupid Nokia phone on my bed. My head hit the pillow and i was out like a light. What felt like 2 minutes had been an hour. I got up and walked down the spiral stairs and into the kitchen where Jason was putting a stir-fry onto plates.
"Hey! You must have smelt the food, I checked on you and you were asleep so I also made dessert"
"You didn't have to go to so much trouble."
"I like treating you."
I could feel my face turning red. We sat and ate while i told him about Lexi going out tonight.
"There's movies in the living room we can watch after this if you want."
"Yeah, after the wash up."
"We have maids."
"Oh. Well then." I said in a posh voice, he looked up and laughed.
We finally settled on 'The Conjuring'.
We sat at watched it until 12. I kept staring at my phone. She should be home by now. Why isn't she?
I walked out to the stairs and sat on them. I dialled her number. It rang twice, the nothing.
"Any luck?"
"No, but it only rang twice so shes probably busy because someone declined the call."
"Ok, see she's ok. You can rest now."
I lay my head on his shoulder. He lifted me up with my arms around his neck and carried me up the stairs. He lay me on the bed and kissed my cheek. I stopped squinting when I realised he was getting changed right in front of me. He walked over to the light and turned it off. He jumped into bed, in only his boxers. I fell asleep soon after with his arms wrapped around my waist.
For the first time in a long time. I finally felt safe.

What do you think is up with Lexi? Or was it just an innocent decline?!
