I didn't think that my mom was going go all out for my birthday, but she was. For the past two days she'd been decorating and preparing. Telling me to "stay inside" while she, my father and Camila's parents got everything together, completely disregarding the fact that I can peak out the window and see everything. It was tempting to do so, but I refrained from peeking because I know how proud they were of their work.
My dad even closed the blinds on the sliding glass door which were rarely closed during Summer because Chris was always bringing girls over to swim and my parents wanted to be parents and make sure he wasn't having too much fun.
In usual birthday fashion I woke up to presents at the end of my bed, I got some gift cards, iphone cases, an a beautiful necklace. When I went downstairs my parents and my siblings sang me happy birthday and I ate my huge birthday breakfast.
I could hear music playing in the backyard and people talking. I still haven't peeked out the window. I was in my bedroom getting ready with Camila helping me out. "I don't know what to wear," I said flipping my hair to the opposite side as I stared in the mirror. "Lauren if you change again.. so help me God.. I'm hungry!" she declared.
"Zayn's coming and I just want to look presentable. I don't want to just wear my bikini," I said.
"It's a pool party, what are you expecting?" she questioned.
"I'll just throw on a sun dress over this. It's not skimpy or anything, but it still shows that I am ready to jump in the pool at any minute if asked. Right?" I said.
"Mhmm," Camila responded, muffled. I looked at her in the mirror and saw that she was on her phone.
"Really Camz? I'm having an emergency."
"It's hardly an emergency.. I swear sometimes we've switched places, and I'm texting Harry. He wants to know if you'd be okay with him inviting a few friends?"
"How many is a few?" I asked slipping into my sundress, and placing my sunglasses on top of my head.
"Just five people. We've met them. It's Dinah, Normani, Liam, Niall and Louis."
"Oh then sure, that's fine. The more the merrier," I said.
There was a gentle knock at my door. "Did someone order a hot tamale?" I looked at Camila and she looked at me, both of our jaws were dropped. We recognized that voice as our best friend, Ally.
"Ally!!" we both shrieked running toward the door. I pulled it open and we threw our arms around our small best friend. "What?" I said in shock. "We thought you weren't coming!"
"Yeah, and you weren't answering our calls," Camila added.
"I know! I dropped my phone and it completely shattered so I had to get it fixed at the mall. I would've been here earlier. I missed ya'll, and hapoy birthday, Lauren!" Ally handed me a small bag. Inside was a beautiful bracelet. "Thank you so much!" I layed the gift down on my bed and squeezed in for another hug because Camila was still clinging tightly to her.
"So when am I going to meet these british boys ya'll are always talking about in group chat?" Ally questioned.
"As soon as we get to meet your boyfriend from Texas."
"That's not a problem. He's actually here. I hope that's not a problem?"
"Not at all," I reassured her. "Come on I wanna meet him," I pulled on her arm.
When I went out back I was actually surprised by the amount of work my parents put into everything. They had huge balloons that spelled LAUREN tied to a chair, and pastel balloons were literally everywhere. The pool was full of pool toys and the sprinkler was going off on the other end of the yard and the little kids were running through it. A table was set up with cake and cupcakes and gifts. My dad was at the grill and my uncle was transferring the food to another table that had food and chips. My favorite artists were playing loudly through speakers. I
