The first time Kyoko Kirigiri saw Sayaka maizono she was being spun around her mother's tailor shop in a flowing white gown. It was the exact opposite of the dress Kyoko had come to purchase. The lavender haired girl watched her while her grandmother spoke to Sayaka's mother about the dress she wanted for Kyoko. Sayaka wore no shoes, her feet and part of her legs that where visible where covered in bug bites and small cuts, and her midnight blue hair was pulled back in a low ponytail by a piece of pink ribbon. Kyoko wasn't sure how to feel about the girl, she was being kind to her and seemed awfully distraught over the fact her mother just passed away. But she also wanted to hate her, she had both a loving mother and father and what seemed to be a happy childhood. It was all she longed for but as her grandmother took her hand to leave she decided she did not hate Sayaka Maizono.

Even though there was only one school in the town Kyoko never had another up-close interaction with Sayaka again till after her accident. Entering the Maizono tailor shop Kyoko didn't feel the same warmth and love she did six years prior. Papers and fabric littered the ground and the detective in training had to watch her step. The hum of a sewing machine mixing with idol music was a happy distraction from the lack of customers or other seems stresses, besides Sayaka herself. Her grandmother did most of the talking but Kyoko was able to pick up on the fact that Ms.Maizono was sick and died five years ago. Sayaka had only reopened the store recently to keep the family's legacy alive. She smiled softly humming along to the music while she traced Kyoko's hands on the pattern paper. " I'd be able to have a test pair done in an hour if you two wouldn't mind waiting around." Another thing Kyoko noticed about the blue-haired girl is she never made eye contact, not with her grandmother or her. Her eyes also didn't shine the same they did when she was nine and dancing around with her father. It saddened Kyoko to know such a bright light for this cruel world had dimmed. " I have much more important matters to attend, But Kyoko your stay."

Sayaka had brushed a chair free for Kyoko to sit on while she worked saying she'd be as fast as possible, But Kyoko didn't mind she wanted to find out more about the girl that played with her emotions so much. Her first goal in solving this case was finding out physical changes, stuff she could notice just skimming the surface. Sayaka's hair now fell past her waist and was flowing freely no longer held in a ponytail, a pair of plain white thigh highs covered the scars of bug bites from her childhood and the scraps from falling from her bike, she wore a simple black skirt and white shirt with grey flannel slipping off her right shoulder.  " You wanted black leather correct?" The detective nods hoping she wasn't staring, but even if she was she can't see any discomfort cross the other girls' faces. " alright I just need to come up with a price. would you be alright to stick around a little longer after I finish these?" " Kyoko was already late to work so what was the difference? Grandfather would punish her the same. " that's fine." Sayaka stands you and hands her the finished prototype of her gloves before grabbing a laptop and sitting on a stack of books next to her. " Try the gloves on I need to know if they fit to determine how much leather to buy." Kyoko complies slipping the gloves on her freshly scarred hands. The material bothers her still healing hands but she doesn't say anything, they fit perfect and it was just a test. " they fit good." Sayaka claps her hands pulling up a web page to a fabric store. " We can pick out the leather and order it now so the gloves can be completed in about 2 weeks." " why don't you just go to the fabric store, it must be cheaper." The blue-haired girl shakes her head. " it just hurts too much to go in there, it reminds me too much of my mother. And I charge accordingly to how much my fabric and labor costs, I've been doing this since I was a toddler don't question me." Kyoko added that to the list of things she knew about Sayaka, this childhood crush of sorts was turning out to be quite the character.

Sayaka handed her a bill of 75 dollars and a few cents saying to come and pay it once she calls about the gloves being finished. " This seems kinda odd, but would you be willing to grab a coffee someday soon. I feel we're quite similar and could be great friends." Kyoko let her composure down for a second, it would make child her happy knowing she was going to figure what about Sayaka maizono made her so confused. Sayaka stares at her in shock for a minute before nodding. " meet me in front of the shop tomorrow at 3:30." The detective nodded and walked out and back to her house, Grandfather was not happy and sent her right to work not letting her stop until half-past midnight. It wasn't that odd for her so she just drank more coffee than usual and powered through school.  At exactly 3:28 she arrived at the front step of the Maizono's tailor shop, she muffled yelling coming from inside. But it wasn't her business, despite her investigative nature she wanted Sayaka to trust her and form a real bond. Sayaka stepped out a minute later with an angry huff and a slam of the shop door. They didn't say a word as they walked towards the only place in town with good coffee that wasn't a chain. They settled in a corner booth and glossed over the menu both girls had seen at least 50 times in their short lives. " What did you mean by we're similar? It's quite a confusing statement." Kyoko looks up from her menu "I meant by the look in your eye I can tell you've been hurt, greatly. And the fact both of our mothers died within a year of each other, I thought maybe you wanted someone to relate to." The slightly younger girl leans forward resting her head on her hands. " You're very odd Kyoko Kirigiri. Very perceptive, you're taking mental notes of me aren't you?" Kyoko blushes in shock how could she tell? Was she doing the same. " you are correct, but you're quite perceptive yourself. It's just a detective habit, I have mental notes for almost everyone I've come in contact with."  Sayaka nods " I'm not trying to sound rude but what's up with your hands?"  They spent quite a while talking about Kyoko's hands and their childhoods. She learns Sayaka loves idols, them being a huge comfort that helped her get through her mother's death. Kyoko talks about being a detective and her father leaving the city to be a teacher at this fancy school. All in all, Kyoko was correct they were very similar.
They walk in silence back to the shop before stopping in front of it. " Would you want to come inside, I know I can be way too talkative and stuff so it's fine if you don't." Sayaka laughed awkwardly testing the door nob before slipping her key into the lock. " oh no you're fine, I'd be happy to." Inside is dark and the welcoming noise is nowhere to be found. Old lights flicker on as Sayaka throws her bag onto a random table. " what happened to this place after.." She didn't want to bring it up to much due to Sayaka's reaction, she seemed to be saying less that she really knows but once again she needed to gain the girl's trust and friendship to continue her case. " my dad used it for storage, and I only came here to cry or sew my own projects. I only opened it again last year. I rarely get customers anymore so I just leave the mess, the older customers seem to not care as long as my work is good."  " That's quite sad, I've only been here three times now but I remember the atmosphere when we had my dress made, it was so happy like a big hug." Sayaka Laughed brushing piles of fabric and a stack of papers tumbling off the couch and sitting across it. " Yea but shit changes, I don't even like sewing at this point. makes me sad, but my dad would sell this place if I didn't keep it open. Mom left it in both our names so he can't sell without my agreement. Sewing runs through my family's blood so once I have kids and teach them I can hand this place over to them and then go to school for music." Kyoko notes the change in her eyes when she talks about music, it's like their nine again and Kyoko almost hates the blue-haired girl who's father is spinning her around to some scratchy record. " if music is your dream go for it you deserve happiness, your blood shouldn't define you like this." The blue-haired girl sits up the sparkle still in her eye, it makes Kyoko's stomach flutter. " you're right! I should leave, this place has done nothing but drag me down. I'm gonna send in my audition tapes to be an idol!" she's pacing now and Kyoko strongly regrets her words. " but what about my gloves!" " they'll be done by then don't you worry! But Kyoko you should come with me, we can be idols together!"  " Sayaka you have to calm down, think rationally! I can't even sing, I can't be an idol." Sayaka crosses her arms pouting. " you need to make up your mind do you want me to give this up or not? and that's fine, we can just leave. run away together live away from here, and all the sadness. you as a detective and me as a music teacher." That's a plan Kyoko can get behind so she agrees.

They leave on the night of graduation, neither tells any family or friends where they're going just that they're leaving and won't be returning. Kyoko knows that since that day back all those years ago she has loved Sayaka Maizono, she can live with being her best friend and roommate that's more than she ever wants Sayaka to give her. But the new college student surprised her with a soft kiss before her first day of school. And when she graduates once again four years later they seal their fate with a kiss now as wives. Sayaka in a flowing white gown and no shoes, and Kyoko in the exact opposite gown in black. A perfect pair, yin, and yang. Night and day.  A small farming village to bustling Tokyo.
