It was dark now and the jungle floor was void of any light

Tink and I were going back to the training area to get our weapons back

Tink was decked out in weapons and I had a little dagger slotted into my belt

"now remember, I'll go scout the area and you stay up in the tree until I say it's clear"

I nodded

We had nearly reached out destination when we slowed down and moved lowing to avoid making too much noise

I came into view of the clearing, it was a lot neater now, the only things laying on the ground was tink and I's weapons, they had been set out in the center

I shivered and looked up at Tink

"stay here" she whispered and jumped to another tree, then expertly slid down

I lost sight of her quickly but Tink could handle herself,

I sat with my legs dangling for a while before the paranoia starting to set in, shouldn't Tink be back by now? I could feel eyes burning into my skull at all kinds on angles but I knew it was just my head messing with me, I was becoming more and more antsy in my spot, my head was shooting in all sorts of directions looking for anyone that might be out there

What if Tink is on peter's side, what if it was all an elaborate plan to kill me

no, Tink's my friend, she's safe and I'm safe

A thud came from a branch behind me, thank goodness, I thought but as I turned, my face was drained of blood, it wasn't Tink, it was a lost boy

A lost boy holding a sword

I sprang to my feet and my hand instinctively flew to my dagger strapped to my belt, a wicked smile fell on the boy's face

"it's okay princess, you don't have to be like that, I'm not going to hurt you" he said snickering

I sprang away from him and now we were playing a game of cat and mouse, weaving in and out of branches and collecting a few too many nicks and scratches

The dagger in my hand tempted me but I didn't know how to fight with it yet, I just had to wait for Tink to save me

But my hopes were crushed as I caught sight of her fighting off two boys in the clearing

I slotted the dagger back into my belt and twisted around a branch letting the momentum carry me around, the poor lost boy hadn't been expecting it and was met with my feet kicking into his chest

He was pushed off the branch and down to the ground, his body hitting other branches on the way down

As he crashed to the ground his own sword impaled itself through his longer abdomen

I gasped, I wasn't trying to kill him

He twitched on the ground

I'd done something worse than kill him, I'd let him suffer

I climbed down carefully next to him and pulled my dagger out slowly

He was laying face down in the dirt and the sword protruded from his back

The right thing to do now would be to kill him and put him out of his misery but I couldn't do it

I'm not a killer

I didn't mean it, it was just...

It was just me or him

And I wouldn't even know how to go about it

Gargled noises began erupting from him mouth and I let out a sob

This was awful

I wanted to call for Tink but the sound of swords clashing somewhere behind me stopped me

I need to do this and help Tink

A firm and harsh grip on my shoulder caused me to gasp

The hand ripped me away from the body and I landed on the ground

I tried to scream but his sword came down and I barely had seconds to roll out of the way

He lifted his arm to try again but I kicked at his knee and he tumbled down with me

I jumped up and pulled my dagger out, I threw it at the barely alive body, it lodged itself into his neck perfectly but I didn't have time to be impressed with myself, I ran out into the clearing and scanned the floor for weapons,

My hand gabbed the cool metal and I drew my sword at the chasing lost boy

Shit

I'd just voluntarily turned this into a sword fight

With one hit to my blade it flung from my hand

There was a pause of horror before I lunged at him

I don't know what I was thinking, the fact that I wasn't impaled by his sword was incredible alone, but I also managed to shove myself into him hard enough that we both tumbled to the ground

I kicked the sword out of his hand and elbowed him in the stomach

But my good luck run out and he shoved me off him and held my head to the ground

He swung his leg over me and straddled me, his sword was back in his hand and the cold metal was pressed against my neck

It bobbed against my neck as I swallowed and I finally got a good look at the boy, he was just as old as I was

We were just two children fighting to the death because we were told to
