02| The Northern Lights.
666 years later.
Somewhere in the Sky.
Perched up on a cloud was Skylar Storm. It had been exactly 666 years since her rebirth or as she remembers it. She gained total control of her powers so now, she didn't need to worry about her emotions getting out of hand, because she's managed to control it.
Her appearance had also changed in the last few decades. Instead of the worn out white dress she had on the day she woke up, she know wears a two piece, one shoulder, sky blue dress with white leggings. Skylar didn't like the idea of having shoes on, so she preferred to stay barefoot but she wore two golden anklets and a shoulder bracelet on her bare upper arm.
She released a sigh. "The stars are really pretty tonight." She commented to noone in particular.
Talking to herself had become so much of a habit now. She never really left the sky that often. The only times she did was when the weather needed changing, she was bored out of her mind and needed something interesting to do and or if, it was utterly and absolutely necessary.
Being invisible to the human eye, Skylar never really had a reason to go to the land. Besides, she preferred being in the sky anyways. She also wasn't a very social person so she didn't exactly talk or befriend the other spirits. Only a few like Mother Nature and Cupid but other than that, not many friends.
She also avoided land because of the drama that happened, like the incident with Pitch Black 5 years ago. Skylar made sure she had no part in that what-so-ever, even though she had powers that could cause absolute destruction. She just watched from the clouds above. She watched how Pitch killed the Sandman, turning his dreams into nightmares and made practically the whole world stop believing in the Guardians. If it wasn't for Jamie - she presumed - Pitch would've won.
From that day, she was actually glad that noone believed in her. Sure being invisible can get lonely a few times a decade but she didn't need to worry on trying to find a way to keep children believing in her. She didn't want a weakness.
Another sigh escaped her lips, but this time it was out of boredom. Sitting up, she propped her knee up to rest her elbow on it, while the other one held her weight. She looked at the Moon.
"You know, one of these days, you have to give a lead to what I'm supposed to do here." She spoke.
No response, like always. Not that she expected one anyways.
"I've tried everything but nothing. You brought me back here, so at least tell me what to do? How can I get them to believe?" She asked him.
But nothing came. Only silence.
Accepting defeat, Skylar decided it was hopeless. He hadn't answered her for the past 666 years, so why would answer now? Skylar let her rise into the air before flying down towards the Earth, remaining only a few feet above it.
Her eyes glowed a bright blue as she raised her arms, bright blue light coming from them. The clouds started to gather, their colour darkening to a light grey as it did, a faint of sound thunder being heard.
She was making it rain.
Little droplets of water started to fall from the sky and landed on the ground, wetting it. Skylar lowered her arms as the blue light faded, her eyes returning to normal. One of the many reason why she wasn't believed in, were the assumptions scientists were making these days. They claimed that it was just a cycle that water was absorbed into the air as vapour, are cooled and then, come back as distilled water. It would be hard to believe that the truth was that it was only an immortal teenage girl doing this.
The thought made her laugh.
The sudden appearance of the Aurora Borealis or also known as The Northern Lights, caught her attention. Her smile faded as she knew exactly what thay meant. She took that as her cue to head back to the clouds, her safe haven because she knew that whenever The Northern Lights appeared, trouble wasn't far behind.
And to her, this could only be one type of trouble. The Boogeyman has returned once again.
