Friday night, right before the homecoming game... as the football team rushes out of the tunnel, Zoe approaches Caleb.
"Zoe, what are you doing? Shouldn't you be over with the other Hearst cheerleaders?" He says.
"Before all this goes down, I really need to talk to you." She says. "I'm sorry for everything I did. I was wrong, and... It's over with Brian... because I want you back." Zoe adds.
"You can't be serious." Caleb adds.
"You have to believe me, Caleb. I've been such a fool. You're the only man I can ever really love. If you give me one more chance, I promise I'll be the perfect girlfriend." Zoe adds.
"I... Zoe. we..." Caleb stammers.
I rush to Caleb's side as the rest of the football team runs out of the tunnel.
"Alexandria. Of course you're not far behind." Zoe says angrily to me.
"Listen, Zoe... This isn't the time. In case you haven't noticed, we're about to start a football game!" I add angrily back.
"Way to state the obvious!" Zoe says to me.
"All I'm saying is that there's a better time for this conversation." I add.
Caleb pushes me to the side facing Zoe directly. "Zoe... I can't do this right now. I've got to focus on the game."
"I know. Let's talk afterward." Zoe adds as she blows Caleb a quick kiss. "I'll be rooting for you.!" Zoe adds.
I turn to Caleb as she scurries toward the stands. "You doing okay?" I ask.
"I'm fine...I have to be" Caleb adds.
"If you're sure" I add.
"Yeah, I am. Come on. We've got a game to win." Caleb adds.
Me and Caleb jog over to the football field.
"Everyone knows their positions. We're going to strike fear into their hearts!" Coach Burke cheers. Then he turns stern "NOW GET OUT THERE AND PLAY SOME FOOTBALL!"
"Let's go, team!" Julian cheers.
"YEAHHHH!" Frank cheers.
"And here... we... go!" I cheer.
Hearst kicks off the ball to start the game. First quarter, four minutes left on the clock... On the field, the Hearst offense runs a new play. Brian easily evades our defense and scores for Hearst!
"That's why the bulldogs are the best. That that. Tigers! Or should I say losers" Brian shouts.
"There's no way Brian could've seen that coming! It was a solid play from our defense." I say
"At least it's only 7-0" Emma adds.
Second quarter, six minutes, three seconds left on the clock...
"17-0. This isn't how I expected the game to go.2 I add putting my head in my hands.
"It's like they know our moves before we do!" Emma adds.
I look up and spot Coach Burke running back on forth on the sidelines, searching frantically for something. "Where's my binder? It's got all our plays!" Burke says. Panicking.
"Oh no." I say as my eyes dart across to Hearst's side of the field... Where I spot Brian greedily scanning a suspicious red binder!
"I DON'T KNOW HOW HEARST GOT AHOLD OF OUR PLAYBOOK, BUT I'M GETTING IT BACK!" I say furiously to Emma.
I march around the field to the Hearst sideline. Brian raises an eyebrow as I approach. "Decided to come to the winning side?" He says.
"YOU'RE ONLY IN THE LEAD BECAUSE YOU STOLE OUR PLAYBOOK!" i say angrily to him.
