Hamilton's POV:

I can hear his heartbeat through his chest. It's calm but some times it speeds up. It's almost comforting. But why did he ask that? Why does he want to know? Oh shut up Alexander, he doesn't think of you like that. You're just holding hands and slow dancing like bros. Buddies. Pals. Great friends... or more...

"Hey Alex-?" I hear Thomas say softly.
"Hm?" I respond.
"It's already five in the morning. You should probably get some rest." he replies. I look at him and giggle.
"I barely ever sleep, it's okay." I say. He looks concerned when I say that. I smile weakly, knowing that I probably do need some rest.
"You should still get some rest. It'll benefit you!" he says. "And I'll wake you up in the morning. I'll stay in here to wake you up." I smile at him. He's a good person once you get to know him. I stumble to the small couch in my office and sit down.

"Thank you, Thomas." I say softly.
"No problem, Ham." he responds. I like it when he calls me Ham. I don't want him to leave, but I know by morning he's going to treat me differently in front of Washington and Madison. Especially Madison. I lay down on the couch and look up to see Thomas, smiling at me. How am I already half asleep?! I'm already drifting off when I feel a soft kiss planted on my forehead.
"Sleep well, Alex. You need it." he says softly as to not wake me up. I smile and keep my eyes open a little bit. I see Thomas turn off the big light and turn on a smaller & dimmer lamp in the corner of my office.

And that's when I drifted off. And for the first time in a long time, I didn't have that dream. I didn't have to save Laurens, I didn't fall through any boat and I didn't need to swim down. I didn't have that. I had a nice, pleasant sleep. I dreamt of a nice sunny day at a park. I was having a picnic with someone. I couldn't picture who it was, but we were happy.

I was happy.
