Synopsis:
Nyasha's life is turned upside down when his girlfriend of two years dumps him out of nowhere.
Grammar:
I noticed a lot of run-on sentences in this book that in general did not flow well with each other. The paragraphs in the novel were also very long which made them hard to read.Occasionally I would also run across words that were misspelled  which took my focus away from the story.  I give this novel  3.5 out of 5  stars on grammar.

Plot:
The plot of Maestro was very interesting in some places and slow in others. For example I felt engaged in the scenes where Nyasha was discussing the letter Catherine gave him and playing rugby. However,  the scenes where  new characters were being introduced and the scenes at the beginning of the novel were very slow. The author has a really bad habit of infodumping everything about how a character looks and their relationship with Nyahsa as soon as they are introduced, which makes for a very slow story. On top of that the novel felt even more slow paced because the author used extremely long  paragraphs and run-on sentences and often over-described the settings. Overall I give the plot of this book  2 out of 5 stars.

Character development:
None of the characters felt flat to me. My only critique for the author on character development would be to show us through interactions between characters what their relationships are like rather than telling us. In the beginning of the novel the author dumped a lot of information about Nyasha's relationships with Catherine and his sister. It would have been much more interesting if they had shown us how Nyasha felt about his break up with Catherine through his actions and dialogue rather than telling us through a long internal monologue. I give this story a 4 out of 5 on character development.

Theme:
This book had a lot of great themes like discovering your own identity and facing your emotions instead of bottling them up. I give this story a 5 out of 5 on theme.

Additional notes:
I loved the way the author used figurative language to enhance the prose but in some areas it felt over used. I wished they had restrained  their figurative language so that way when they actually did use it it had more impact.

Conclusion:
I give Maestro 3.6 stars out of 5. I think it has the potential to be a very good book the author just needs to work on their grammar and pacing.
