"are we there yet? are we there yet? are we there yet? it looks like we're there. i know that this is very familiar. are we here yet? are we here yet? are we here yet? oh, please tell me we're here."

"yes, ikki, as i've been telling you for the last fifteen minutes, we are finally here." the man at reins sighed as the sky bison's many feet touched the ground.

the teenage girl huffed heavily and performed a dramatic swimmer's dive off the sky bison, only to fall like a leaf gracefully to the ground. "i was going to jump off oogi if we weren't." she grumbled, referring to her youngest sister's annoying habit.

the other two girls flowed their way off of the tail of the sky bison to stand behind their father who was talking to his own mother. "hello, mother. i can't tell you how happy i am to see you." the man now had three children clutching to him, "please, help me."

the old woman laughed at the family, picking up the youngest member off his father's shoulders.

"come on mom," amai coaxed to her very pregnant mother, who was struggling to slide her way off the bison. the oldest daughter's hand was outstretched towards the woman, waiting for her to take it.

"pema, let me help you," tenzin finally noticed his wife hesitantly sliding down the sky bison's tail. "careful now."

"you two need to stop doting on me," she waved the two of them off of her as if they were flies. "i'm not helpless. i'm just pregnant."

"hi gran gran," amai greeted katara with a warm hug. "i've missed you."

"i've missed you too, my sweet amai." their hug was cut short by amai who was watching over her siblings.

"meelo be careful!" she called out and ran over to him. he was jumping far too high for her liking, trying to get the snow atop the walls to build a snowman. amai sat watching her younger siblings sculpt their masterpieces while her parents rambled to her grandmother.

"amai," jinora's quiet voice called out. "can you help me build?"

"of course." jinora was amai's favorite sibling, being the two oldest in the family. amai also enjoyed the fact jinora wasn't quite as loud as the younger siblings.

they weren't building for that long before meelo exclaimed, "penguins!" and all three of them went running off.

"kids!" amai called after them, and she started to chase them, but amai's attention was drawn away from them.

"korra!" her excitement was apparent as she dashed over — a little too fast — to korra and engulfed her in a hug.

they toppled to the ground by the force of amai's attack on her. "amai! i haven't seen you in so long!"

the two girls didn't necessarily grow up with each other, but amai and her family visited the south pole often, and each time korra would be there.

amai blew herself back onto her feet and offered her hand to korra, who took it and amai pulled her back upright.

the two were laughing when amai resumed the conversation, "sorry dad, you were saying?"
