After the events on the beach, the pups all headed back to the lookout, including Exdious.
"Are you sure your master is ok with me staying there for a few days? Humans don't seem to like me that much."
"That's because you look like a wolf." Chase explained.
"But I am a wolf."
"Well for as long as you stay in Adventure Bay, your a husky. The citizens here can be frightened easily" Chase huffed. He's never liked how easily frightened the people here were, but, what could you do. They're why we have a job.
Ryder was fixing up his ATV when he heard his his pups chatting. He carefully removed himself from under the vehicle, successfully not hitting his head.
"Hey Ryder! We got a pup who's in need of some help." Yelled Chase.
Ryder squinted his eyes to look at the pup they were referring to. As they got closer he could make out the figure better, they had a nice grey shade of fur with white accent. Not to mention the eyes, the pup's eyes were a beautiful shade of amber, he's never seen a pup with that shade of amber eyes.
"What's your name little fellow?" Ryder asked, walking up to the new pup.
"My name is Exdious, sir!" He saluted.
Ryder chuckled at the pup's action. "Well Exdious, tell me, what brings you here?"
Exdious' ears lowered at that sentence and they let out a small whimper "My mother died about a year ago and I never knew my father, I've been living on the streets since."
Exdious was a terrific actor. They would always pretend to take the different serums and elixirs that was given to him, by playing sick he was able to skip out on some.
"Well if you stay here then we will have to take you to the vet for a physical, is that ok?" Exdious' face lit up and he began bouncing around.
"Really?! Really?!" They yapped in unexpected excitement. Exidous found his body reacting in a way they never knew he was capable of. His tail wagging back and forth and their heartbeat speeding up a tad. But right before Exidous could do anymore they remembered something that happened at the lab. The day he wished never happened.

Flashback

Exidous was chatting with one of the security guards, Paul, they were new to the establishment and the two automatically clicked.
One day Paul told Exidous a joke about the boss and Exidous let out a small chuckle. Unfortunately for them the boss was reviewing the camera feed that night and saw the footage of the two chatting as well at his "project" showing emotion. He was furious.
The next day was the day Exidous wish they could forget forever. The boss strapped Exidous down and made the pup watch as he tortured Paul until his body lay limp from blood loss. Exidous had nightmares every night of the scene that was displayed in front of him that day. The limp body of Paul on the ground, blood staining the white walls. They can still hear Paul's screams and smell the blood, lingering after all those years.

Exidous pushed the memory out of his mind and put his focus on the thing in front of him. His Fami- he paused and looked away. 'Their family' I mean.
