Within the stone realm Petrifos, and certain parts of Dinm, there are creatures which are attuned to, and often made of stone. Dubbed "Stonekin", These creatures vary greatly in size, shape, intellect, etc. Below are detailed physicalities and important information on each of the more commonly known stonekin. The species detailed below are the Abyad, basilisk, cockatrice, crag stag, Galeb Duhr, gargoyle, gemling, gorgon, jadeshell tortoise, Petrid, rockbiter, rockjaw tiger, sandspitter, and stone giant.

Abyads, also known as rock Djinns, are dark grey and charcoal black in coloration, with rough skin and a lower body composed of a cycling rockslide. Their upper body is that of a muscular man with sharp teeth and very bushy eyebrows. They are said to reside deep below ground, and to grant wishes to people lost and desperate in their domain. Because of this, they are generally viewed as benevolent to an extent, helping those in need escape a dark and dire fate underground; however they often return to the individuals granted wishes to demand payment roughly five to ten years later.

Basilisks are medium-sized, reptilian creatures whose hide carries a powerful protective enchantment. All who gaze upon it turn to stone. It is said the best cure for this petrification is the blood of the basilisk itself, which must be boiled down into an oil, and rubbed over the feet, hands, and head of the afflicted statue.

Cockatrices are large, long legged bird creatures who emit a petrifying laser from their eyes. If hit, the victim will be turned instantly into stone. The main cure is in the kidney juices of the cockatrice itself. The cure must be applied to the whole stone body, and smells horribly for roughly one to two weeks.

Crag stags are the living image of Golmara, large stags with stone hooves, antlers and sometimes tails. The meat from these creatures is incredibly gamey.

Galeb Duhr are creatures made of living rock, often seeming like a large granite boulder with arms and legs. These creatures hunt in packs, often hunting crag stags. They form small tribes in the mountains and are jolly by nature.

Gargoyles are large creatures which seem as winged statues in a vaguely humanoid form; with long talons on the hands and feet, and small, stubby horns atop their heads. Although they appear to be statues, and indeed have stone skin, these creatures are fully autonomous and have simply mastered patience in their hunting; being able to stand perfectly still for years at a time.

Gemlings are small, foxlike creatures made of gemstone. Coming in a variety of gems, such as ruby, sapphire, and quartz, these creatures feed on dirt and pass it as diamonds. These Gemling diamonds, however, are imbued with a strong magical essence that rivals that of even most magical stones found among the realms of Tredecimos; and are incredibly useful for working enchantments onto items.

Gorgons are tall, imposing women with snakes for hair. Like a basilisk, those who gaze directly upon the gorgon are turned to stone. The main cure for this petrification is to chop the head off the gorgon who petrified the victim, as the headsnake venom is the antidote, when applied to the victim statue.

Jadeshell tortoises are large tortoiselike creatures which have a shell of roughly ten feet in diameter. This shell is made of a dark green super hardened jade. Jadeshell tortoises can live upwards of two-thousand years, if left undisturbed by poachers and predators with hard enough teeth to crack their shells; such as rockjaw tigers, which consider them a delicacy.

Petrids are also called rock nymphs, and appear as beautiful, grey skinned women with a rocky hide exterior on their arms, and dirt in their hair. Petrids are able to meld with the boulders they call home, and do not take kindly to their destruction for material and resource gain by Humans and the Awakened Races.

Rockbiters are small, bestial, quadrapedal creatures composed of rock, which, in turn, consume rocks as nourishment. Rockjaw tigers, in turn, regularly consume them for nourishment. Docile and sometimes helpful creatures, they also respond to a certain frequency; which has led many miners to carry rockbiter whistles in case of cave-ins.

Rockjaw tigers are catlike predators which have a rocky jaw and mouth, complete with mithril teeth. Their black and brown spotted hides help them camouflage in the caves they call home, where they commonly hunt rockbiters, sandspitters, crag stags, and the occasional jadeshell tortoise.

Sandspitters are small creatures which look like anteaters, but with a longer, thicker snout more resembling an elephant trunk. They use this trunk to shoot sand in the faces of their predators, attempting to blind them temporarily for escape. This sand come from a special sand gland, where sand is constantly metabolised and stored for such use.

Stone giants are roughly 40 foot tall hulking grey humanoids which reside in mountains and caves. They feed on rockjaw tigers and are immune to the effects of petrification. They are afraid of fire, and because of this, eat everything raw. Generations of this has caused the stomach acids of stone giants to carry very powerful purifying effects as it relates to disease and poison.
