Sadie and I go to the place where her vision took place. We drop down onto the ground and split up, her going left, me going right.
I'm on high alert as I go, and I keep my wings arched in a way that I can easily fight someone if they get too close. But no one gets too close to me. In fact, I don't see anyone at all in this building. No sign of anyone being here recently. Weird.
Then, I see something out of the corner of my eye, and when I turn, I gasp. It's my dad, laying perfectly still, his eyes shut. His chest rises and falls, but he won't wake up. I call Sadie into the room, and she hurries to my side.
"How are we getting him home if he's unconscious?" she asks.
"I guess I could make a portal, like I did for us to get here," I say.
"Are you sure? That's no easy thing."
"Yeah, I'll be fine."
I then begin to create the portal for us, and the two of us end up practically dragging my super tall dad through the portal and into the living room. Seraphina isn't here, and neither is Mom, but we lay Dad down on the couch and I pull out my phone to text her.
"Is he alive?" she asks.
I look up. "Yeah, he's breathing. I think ... I think he's just unconscious."
"Okay " she says. "You should tell Sera that we found him."
"Okay," I say. Then I look back to my phone. I text her a quick message, and minutes later, she just gives a thumbs up.
I sit back and fold my wings behind me as Sadie paces back and forth, humming softly. She's just an anxious person. But then she stops.
"Maybe I can understand what happened to your dad if I use my powers." She leans down and places her hand on his, where it rests on his chest. Her eyes go white again and then she looks at him. Then her eyes return to normal and she looks at me. "She took his soul."
"Who?"
"Visage. Or, more accurately, Alexandria did it."
My heart sinks into the floor. "No ... "
"It's okay," Sadie assures me. "Anya Lee will know how to save him "
I nod, but I don't even have the feeling that Mom will know how to fix this. Dad's soul being stolen by Visage and Alexandria means that she's stronger than ever. It means that things are not going to end well.
"We need to get Mom back, asap," I say.
She nods. "I'll try and call on a vision."
