MELODY'S POV
So...remember when I said, "I wonder what tomorrow's going to bring?", yeah well- it's going to bring a whole load of bed!
I'm not going to school, ohho nho! And since my mum won't let me stay in sick if I don't have anything wrong with me, I have to take my actions to extreme measures.
Even if it involves waking up 5 minutes earlier.
That's right! I said it! Waking up a whole 5 minutes earlier.
To wake me up, I put an alarm on my phone but put it on silent and fell asleep with it in my hands, so that the vibration would wake me up but not my parents.
I spring out of bed- already in my Nina clothes and pull a balaclava down my face.
Ready for action.
I jam myself against the wall as if you were trying to spread frozen butter on bread- I could be a spy bruh!
After many failed cartwheels, walking handstands and flips to get downstairs to the kitchen- ( I may or may not have limped after the first cartwheel failed)- I whip the Mercury thermometer out of my back pocket and place it on the counter.
Step one. Check.
I snatch the kettle and fill it with tap water. After a couple of minutes, the water has boiled and I stuck the thermometer inside.
Step two. Check.
From upstairs, I hear a couple of floorboards creak in addition to flapping footsteps.
MAIDER! MAIDER! ABANDON MISSION! I REPEAT! ABANDON MISSION!
I haven't even given the thermometer time to cool a bit before popping it into my mouth and racing up the stairs as if being on a NASA rocket ship.
Catapulting myself into bed, I assure that the covers are hiding my clothes as well as making sure that my balaclava was safely hidden under my pillow.
A gentle knock is heard at my door.
"Come in!" I weakly let out.
"Rise and shine darling!" My mother hums as she opens the door. "Oh!" She exclaims as she sees me. "Is everything alright, dear?"
I shake my head no.
"Hhmmm" she exhales.
Inching closer, she sits down on my bed next to my legs and takes a look at the thermometer which lays gently placed under my tongue- and that burnt it may I add.
All in one minuscule second, her face turns ghostly pale, her eyes enlarge to the size of a light bulb and her mouth falls to the floor.
"IM CALLING THE DOCYOR RIGHT AWAY!" She shrieks.
Oh oh.
"Why mum? What's wrong" I ask, still faking an ill voice but as bad, having witnessed her reaction.
"YOUR TEMPERATURE IS 58 DEGREES CELSIUS! YOU COULD DIE ANY SECOND NOW!" She proclaimed.
Aww! Mum cares!
But whoops! A doctor is coming to my house to do who knows what to me!
While making the phone call, my mother rushes to gather blankets, jumpers, coats and hot water bottles to place upon me.
Now my younger isn't the only thing that's burnt!
"The doctor is on his way!" My mother Seemed as if she was trying I console me, however it was clear that it was for her sake.
