Eight's POV: (Seventeen years ago)

I was in my room, practicing with my powers. Until, I heard the bell ring for dinner. I sighed before walking down stairs with my siblings.

Mom walked us to the dinner table, we all stood behind our chairs.

I was next to Five, he looked at me and smiled. I smiled back.

Then, dad came and walked to his seat.

"Sit," He said to all of us, we did as he said.

As we began to eat, there was silence, we weren't allowed to talk when we had meals which is so annoying because all we listen to is dad's records.

As I was about to take a bite of my food, I heard something clang on the table.

I turned my head and saw Five had stabbed a knife to the table.

"Number Five?" Dad questioned Five.

"I have a question," Five said to dad.

"Knowledge is an admirable goal, but you know the rules, no talking during meal times, you are interrupting Herr Carlson," Dad explained to Five, not even looking at him.

"I want to time travel," Five said to dad.

"No," Dad immediately answered.

"But I'm ready. I've been practicing my spatial jumps, just like you said," Five explained as he jumped next to dad.

"See?" Five said.

"A spatial jump is trivial when compared with the unknowns of time travel. One is sliding along the ice, the other is akin to descending blindly into the depths of the freezing water and reappearing as an acorn," Dad explained.

"Well, I don't get it," Five said quietly.

"Hence the reason your not ready," Dad replied.

Me and Vanya shook our heads to five. He looked at us then at dad.

"I'm not afraid," Five cleared.

"Fear isn't the issue. The effects it may have on your body, even on your mind are too unpredictable. Now, I forbid you to talk about this anymore," Dad scolded as he went back to eating.

Five stood there for a moment before he suddenly started running to front door.

"Number Five!" Dad yelled.

Oh no. There is no way, I was going to let Five leave by himself.

I got up and ran to Five.

"Number Eight! Come back here!" I heard dad yell, but I still kept running.

I opened the door and I saw Five had opened the gate.

"Five!" I yelled his name.

"I knew you were going to follow me," Five turned around and smiled at me.

"You really think I was going to let you leave alone?" I smiled back.

Then, he grabbed my hand and we started running forward.

We jumped and the fall turned to summer, everyone was wearing short sleeve shirts, shorts, and sunny accessories.

"Not ready, my ass," Five said making me laugh. This is so cool!

We jumped again, there was snow and people in coats and beanies. I shivered a little.

When we jumped again I was expecting another season. But instead, there was nothing. Absolutely nothing.

There was fire, ashes, and all the building's were destroyed. I really surprised of what I was seeing.

Suddenly, Five grabbed my hand and we started running back to the Academy.

When we made it, the building was destroyed. I felt like crying when I saw the Academy had burned to ashes.

"Vanya!" I yelled.

"Ben!" Five yelled also.

We started yelling our siblings names, we even yelled dad's name. But, no answer.

My eyes burst to tears. Five tried to bring us back, but he couldn't.

"Come on!" Five shouted.

But, it still wouldn't work.

"Shit," He said.

Five held me close and rubbed my arm in a comfortable gesture.

"H-how did this happen?" I asked.

"I...I don't know," Five whispered.

------------------------------------------------------

We walked more to the ruins. Everything was destroyed and miniature fires were everywhere.

As we walked we saw a hand sticking out the rumble, holding something.

We walked closet and saw it was a bloody eye that looked like this was ripped out of someone's socket.

Five grabbed it and examined it.

I looked to see who's hand that was and what I saw made me gasp. Five heard me and looked at what I was looking at.

It was Luther.

He looked older, but I could always tell who my siblings are.

"What about the other's?" I whispered.

We started walking to more of the rumble and saw Diego and Allison.

Five knelt down and shook Diego a little, but he didn't move. I put my hand over mouth and let out a choked sob. No...

As we walked more through the rumble. We also Klaus.

Me and Five started to sob. It was hard to see our siblings dead. The both of us hugged each other, not wanting to let go.

"I'm...sorry," Five whispered to me.

-----------------------------------------------------

That night we found a place to sleep. Me and Five were laying on some of the rumble.

It wasn't soft, but it was comfortable enough.

The both of us were laying next to each other, holding hands. I felt his thumb making rub little shapes on my hand. There was silence other than the sounds of fire cackling.

All I could think about is, how did this happen? When did this happen?

When I didn't feel Five's thumb rub my hand anymore I knew he had fallen asleep. I looked up to see his eyes closed and his lips were parted a little as he let out soft breaths.

I smiled, he looked cute in his sleep.

Wait...what the heck am I thinking?! Were only friends, nothing more...right?

(Hours later)

Five's POV:

I woke up when I heard Eight gasp and sit up.

"Eight?" I groan rubbing my eyes.

I hear her breathing hard. I quickly got concerned and sit up also.

"Eight, what happened?" I asked her as I held her hand.

"N-nothing...j-just a n-nightmare," Eight sighed.

I started to rub her back in a comfortable manner.

"It's okay, I'm here," I smiled to her.

Suddenly, she hugged me. I was shocked for a second, but I soon hugged her back.

"I'm scared Five," Eight confessed.

Don't worry we'll get out of here, I promise," I said to Eight.

I never want anything bad to happen to Eight. She's to special to me and I can't loose her.
