"Did you know?" Suni took Arya's hand in her weak, wrinkled ones. "After Taehyung, you are the only one I enjoy spending time with."
Arya smiled, caressing her thumb over the skin of Suni's hand.
Needles stuck to Suni's arms all day, every day. Her beautiful brown hair that she boasted about till a year ago, was nowhere to be found. Her eyes were lifeless and Arya saw her struggling to breathe through the exhaustion of chemotherapy.
"I have had no regrets in my life, dear. The only thing that worries me is Taehyung." Suni's voice shook at the end, filled with sorrow.
"That fellow loves me so much that I'm afraid he would never be back to his old self once I'm gone."
"Grandma, stop talking like that. Cancer isn't a deadly disease anymore. Many people are getting cured." Arya feigned strength even though she was breaking inside.
Arya met Suni when she began working part-time as a volunteer at the hospital. They clicked. Behind Suni's hard personality, Arya saw hidden tenderness in her eyes.
"You are so positive." Suni cracked a smile with her thin lips. "There's not much I could do by being alive, honey. If I were to leave this world tomorrow. I would do it happily."
"What about me?" Came a deep voice from the door. Taehyung walked inside. He placed a bag of food and drinks on the table and sat on the bed opposite to Arya. Their eyes met for a split second before he averted his gaze.
It was those times when Taehyung felt nothing for Arya. Not even hatred. In his eyes, she was someone his grandma loved to have around.
"What were you saying again? That you would leave me here all alone?" Taehyung challenged Suni to repeat her words in his presence. Suni chuckled.
The love Taehyung held for his grandmother was precious. Having grown up with her during his childhood, Taehyung developed a powerful bond with her. If anything were to happen to her, he would be the most affected.
"Did you come here in the rain? You are all wet." Arya scolded Taehyung, noticing his wet overcoat and drenched hair that stuck to his forehead. Her hand subconsciously reached out to his hair and ruffled it.
"You'll catch a cold," she mumbled, grimacing. Taehyung moved away from her touch and grabbed a towel from the rack before moving toward the window of the enormous hospital room to dry himself off. Suni chuckled at their interaction.
"What?"
"How long have you been in love with him?" Arya almost choked on her spit and covered it up, scoffing.
"What are you talking about?" She asked in defense.
"I lived on this planet for fifty years more than you have, probably loved more than you have. I can recognise that look from anywhere. Have you told him yet?" Arya shook her head, giving in.
"I don't know if it's love, but every time he's around I feel shy and giddy." She fought the blush creeping up on her cheeks but failed miserably.
"That's what you call love, sweetie." Suni let out a hearty laugh, but Arya's smile fell instantly.
"I can't tell him about how I feel. He is still very much in love with Mia." She mumbled, looking down at her hands as she felt a burn in her chest.
"That's the thing about Taehyung. If he loves someone, he loves them dearly with everything he has. That's why it's always him getting hurt the most." Arya nodded in agreement.
