"Happy endings are a myth, aren't they?" Arya questioned, looking at the evening sunset.
"Why do you think so?" Jungkook frowned, shifting his gaze away from the sky towards Arya. She looked beautiful under the subtle rays of the sun and he would be lying if he said his heart didn't skip a beat.
"Look at my life. What a tragedy it has been!"
Jungkook hadn't hesitated to bring Arya to her mother's house. She told him about how she wanted to decorate the house for Christmas, just like her mother would have done. Despite Jaden on the loose, they somehow made it to the roof of the house, laying in peace, leaving all the worries behind for once.
Jungkook chuckled at her words.
"You are what? Twenty-three? Your life hasn't even begun yet and you are already talking about the end."
Arya shrugged.
"I don't know what to expect of life anymore. It seems so against me."
"Or maybe everything that's happening is for your own good. I wouldn't be too quick to judge my situation. After all, what doesn't kill you, makes your stronger."
A smile took over Arya's lips as she completely laid on her side, facing Jungkook.
"You always have the best things to say." She stated making a smirk rise up his lips.
"What can I say? It comes natural to me." He said, boasting himself making Arya roll her eyes, chuckling. There was a comfortable silence for a few seconds.
"Have you ever tried to move on from him?" Jungkook asked taking Arya off-guard. She sighed.
"Atleast a thousand times. After I left, I spent every moment trying to flush him out of my system. I thought I succeeded." She paused, gulping. "When I came back, I realised nothing has changed. I'm still the one hurting. I don't know how to get over him. It's getting tiring."
Arya felt his hand run through her locks. She closed her eyes giving into the soothing feeling.
"I wish I could take all your pain away" Jungkook muttered under his breath.
"Did you say something?" She asked opening her eyes.
His gaze left her locks to her cheek. So many tears had stained her rosy cheeks in the past and all Jungkook could do was just watch helplessly. Not anymore.
He was done being in the sidelines. He had suppressed enough for the sake of his bestfriend. Not anymore. He wouldn't hold back.
"We should go back. It's getting dark."
Arya nodded and they both packed before getting into his car. By the time, they reached Taehyung's house, it was way past eight. Thanks to Jungkook, who stopped at every gift store to buy something. Arya wasn't complaining. For once, she was enjoying herself.
As Jungkook pulled into the driveway, he found Taehyung on the porch, looking not so pleasant at all. A smirk made his way up to his lips seeing his best friend's distress.
"You go inside. I'll get the bags." Jungkook suggested. Arya leaned in for a hug, which Jungkook returned, his gaze falling on Taehyung once again, who now looked furious.
"Thanks for today."
"I wouldn't mind doing it, tomorrow too." Arya chuckled, pulling away.
"I can't bother you, everyday. You seriously need to get a life. When was the last time, you went on a date?" Jungkook pretended to be offended.
"You wounded my heart." Arya rolled her eyes.
"I'm speaking the truth." A find smile played on Jungkook's lips.
"Maybe the reason I'm not dating anyone is because I already have someone in my heart."
"Really?" Arya's eyes widened with excitement. "Who is it?"
"Someone I have known for a long time."
"Do they know?"
Jungkook shook his head.
"What's stopping you?"
"It's not easy. She has had enough on her plate. I don't want to add on to it." Jungkook reasoned with a sad sigh.
"Or maybe you could actually help her by confessing."
"Can I?" Jungkook asked, turning serious. " How do I know that?"
Jungkook simply grinned at her cluelessness.
"Let's get out before that watching hawk pounces on us." He muttered looking at Taehyung who was still standing at the porch with his fists clenched.
Arya bid Jungkook goodbye and walked inside while Taehyung stalked towards Jungkook and grabbed his collar with a death glare.
"What are you doing?" He hissed. Jungkook raised his eyebrows.
"I'm doing what you should have done a long time. Cherish her. Fight for her." He answered pulling himself out of his grip.
"Moreover, you shouldn't worry about Arya. You have a fiancee now, a daughter and a lovely family to take care of." Jungkook said, purposefully trying to tick him off.
Taehyung sighed.
"You know I don't have a choice! This is not something I want either!"
Jungkook shrugged.
"I don't care what you do but if it hurts Arya, I'm not staying with my hands tied." He warned, stepping forward, standing chest to chest with Taehyung.
"So you better make your choices carefully. When you push her away this time, she won't bounce back to you. I'll be there behind her with my arms wide open."
