Suki's POV

"Hey Get back here you brat!" Yelled the angry chef as he chased me.
I was running and I looked back to check if he was still following me, he was, as I was turning a corner I crashed into someone and almost fell over, the man caught me before I fell. "I'm sorry" I apologized before trying to run off again. He stopped me grabbing me by the arm. "Why are you running little one," he asked. I look up at him and for a second I thought he was a girl, he has shoulder-length black hair and a bright blue eye.

"I can't see his other eye," I thought before realizing I was staring. "I'm so sorry sir I'm in a..." "I caught you!" I was cut off by the chef that was chasing me. I turned around frantically and tried running, before realizing that the man I bumped into was still holding me by the arm. "Give me back my ingredients you brat!" The angry chef yelled at me and I hide behind the man who caught me. I was scared none of the other chefs I've stolen from have ever actually caught me before. The man that I was behind began walking forward a little, making sure not to let go of me, but also keeping me behind him.

He started talking and his voice was really firm and yet soothing to the ears. "How much did she steal and what was the cost of it, sir," he said with a cold smile, It gave me chills, the chef looked a little taken aback by the question but answered nonetheless.

After he paid the chef a lot of money he turned to me and asked "Where are your parents, little one?" So I told him the truth "Thank you for your help, I don't have any parents..." I said while looking into his one visible eye. "They died a year ago" I explained. He then turned all chibi and exclaimed "That's so sad!" With little tears in his eyes. He turned back to normal a few moments later looked me directly in the eyes and said "You know you owe me one for saving you back there with that chef" he was serious I could tell, "What could he possibly want from a 6-year-old?" I thought he must have seen my confusion because he also explained what it was he wanted me to do. "I want you to come live with me and stop stealing from other people," he said seriously. "I can also teach you a lot about cooking if you want to learn," he said as an afterthought. I stared at him for a minute and then nodded "Sure" was all I said.

"Nice to meet you little one I'm Chiba Moriko, but you can just call me Moriko, I don't mind." He introduced himself "I'm Suki," I said with a small smile. "Great, it's nice to meet you. Let's go home," he says and offers me his hand to take, I shake my head as I say "Not yet, I still have to go grab my stuff"  he looks at me for a second and then says "Alright let's go" he smiled, I started walking he followed me.

A few minutes later we arrived at the alleyway I called home. I live in a box, it doesn't look like much from the outside, but when you enter it's kinda comfy, I have a little living area and a small little food box where I keep my food and then my bed, my bed consists of a comforter a pillow and a small blanket, I, of course, had a small teddy bear, given to me by my deceased Mother. I gathered my things in a bag that I had lying around and left, looking back at my box for what would most likely be the last time.

I walk with Moriko to his home, it was bigger than a normal house but smaller than a mansion, we walked in. "It smells like books" I comment. Moriko only laughed a little and apologized for the mess, I said it was fine and looked around the main entrance, there were a lot of books piled up everywhere, I saw a few titles some read "French spices for beginners" while others read "Sakura blossoms and their many uses" I didn't bother reading all the titles, besides I think that would take year's I think to myself and giggle a little, Moriko looked at me confused but I only shook my head.

He showed me to my room and then said he had to go back to research and left me alone to make myself at home.
I look around the room it's big compared to my box, it has a window, a wonderful view, of the forest behind the house, a desk, a bed, and a dresser. I start unpacking my things my clothing; not that I had much, goes into the dresser and my collection of spices goes on the desk, while I put my teddy bear on the bed. I sat on my new bed for a while waiting for Moriko to be done with whatever it was that he was doing. It was taking a while that was for sure. So, I went to explore by myself, I found a lot of mostly empty rooms, I found two libraries, a living room, I'm guessing a study it says to keep out so I can't enter, and finally, I found a kitchen and a dining area. As it was late and Moriko wasn't there I opened a recipe book and started to read it, I found a meal that looked easy enough and made it with whatever Moriko had in the kitchen, plus a few ingredients I carry on me at all times, like cinnamon.

"What's that smell? It smells delicious" Moriko said walking into the kitchen area with a yawn. He saw me on a stool cooking dinner over the stove, I had to use a stool because I'm not tall enough to reach the stove without one, Moriko walks over and instantly sees the recipe book open on the counter. "Did you read this?" He asks impressed, I nod.

"Sit down and wait I'm not done yet," I say, making him giggle and sit down, I turn off the stove and put the food on a plate for him, and one for me. He looks amazed when he sees the Curry looks exactly like it's supposed to in the picture in the recipe book. He looks at me surprised and asks "Have you ever made this before?" I only shook my head no. He looked even more shocked, eventually, he took a bite and didn't say anything and I thought I poisoned him. "Are you ok? Was it that bad?" I asked worried about him. "It's delicious!" He said finally, "The spices were mixed just right, and the rice was done excellently" he continued to compliment me on my cooking skills. "It was nothing really, I was just hungry and you probably weren't going to cook, were you?" I ask innocently, "Man, you figured me out, I'm not really one who cooks for myself, I'll put more of an effort in now that I have you to take care of," he explained with a giggle. I looked at him with a pouty face and was just about to say something when his phone went off.

"I better answer this, I'll do the dishes after, okay?" He asks "Okay," I say with a big smile. I exit the kitchen and go to my room to get ready for bed. "Man, I'm exhausted," I said aloud, once I lay down I fall into a comfortable sleep.
