A few weeks passed after the night in the hospital. I was getting ready for my surgery the next day, and I was nervous, but it was something that had to be done.

Ari and Zayn had decided to part ways, and she got a different boyfriend a week or so later. It came as a shock to all of us, but they agreed it was a mutual decision.

They both seemed happy, and I knew I shouldn’t do anything to get involved like I used to.

“So who’s this new man of yours?” I ask, giving her a plate with pizza on it, sitting down on the couch.

“His name is Kip. He’s hot, and he sings.” She says, a smile spreading across her fa

“I bet he is.”

She shoots me a glare but I wink at her, hopefully getting the point across that I was being sarcastic.

“How long have you guys been going out now?” I ask.

“A week, how’s Zayn been holding up?”

“He’s normal, but I bet he misses you.”

She laughs. “There’s nothing to miss.”

“Bullshit! That’s totally not true!” I protest.

“Okay, okay.”

We continued to eat and watched Prison Break, continuing on our marathon from awhile back. Over all, it was one of the better girl’s nights I’ve had in a while.

I drove over to the boys’ house the next day, but I wanted to talk to Niall. He was one of my best friends and I really trusted him.

Louis and Harry were off doing their own things according to Niall, which seemed fine to me. Zayn and Liam were wandering around the house, but that didn’t matter as much to me.

As I walked up onto the porch, so many memories flooded back.

When I first apologized to Louis and he kissed me at the beach and I left, when Harry kissed me, and when Louis and I had our final date before he left for tour.

It was almost overwhelming, but I wasn’t here to talk to Louis or Harry. I was here to talk to Niall.

I knocked on the door, and Liam answered the door, looking somewhat better than he did from the past few weeks.

“Hey Rachel.” He said, gesturing me to come into the house.

I sat down on the couch and Niall came out of the kitchen with some Pringles and a Pepsi.

“Hey girl!” he said happily, plopping down on the couch next to me.

“Hey Nialler.”

“How are you doing?”

“Okay, how about you?”

“Fantastical. I’m excited to hang with you!”

I laugh. “Thanks. I’m excited to hang with you too.”

“What should we do?”

“I don’t know. Whatever you want to do.”

“I have an idea. But the first thing isn’t very calm.”

“What is it?”

“How does zip-lining sound to you?”

“Awesome! I haven’t done that since 8th grade!”

“Let’s go then.” He says, dropping the Pringles, but takes his Pepsi.

“Okay! Bye Liam!” I say, and head out the door with Niall.

~*~

We drove off into the countryside, and pulled into a big area, which was obviously the place we were zip-lining at.

I got out of the car, and followed Niall into the smaller building a couple hundred feet from the car.

“Two please!” he says, handing the older guy his credit card.

“How long?” he asks.

“An hour.”

“Thirty dollars.”

He nods and turns to me and smiles. “I’m excited!”

The man hands back Niall’s card and he signals for us to follow him into the back.

“You need harnesses so we’ll get you fitted.” He says, handing us a harness.

I step into mine and he tightens it, and moves onto Niall.

“Go out to the zip-lining area and Lauren will help you.” He says.

I roll my eyes and head out of the building.

“He looked overjoyed to see me.” Niall said sarcastically.

“Must’ve been a big fan.”

“I could tell.”

We laugh and walk over to the zip-lining platform, and the girl lead us up to the top and hooked us onto the cables.

“Alright, when you’re ready, jump of the platform and hold onto the cable for dear life.”

“Sounds fun!” Niall says excitedly.

“Yeah, have fun.”

I looked over the edge, being 60 feet above ground. I stumble back, holding onto the cord.

“No way. Nuh uh.”

“Oh comon, Rach.”

“Fine. Just for you Niall.”

I took a deep breath, closed my eyes and jumped of the edge, holding onto the cord as I zoomed down to the ground.

Niall was close behind, but I could hear him yelling like a little girl.

But this is what I loved. This is what I lived for.
