'Here.'
Skye looked up just as a paper bag landed on the chair beside her. Cody slid into the chair on her other side and grabbed some of her french fries.
'Wha...?' she opened the bag and her eyes widened at the sight of the denim shirt.
'These are so good,' he said, his mouth full of fries.
She turned to him. 'Where did you get the shirt?'
He shrugged. 'I had it in my closet. I don't like it and I'm sure you could use it.'
She pulled the garment out of the bag. 'Do al your clothes still have their labels on?' she asked.
He glanced at the label she was holding in her hand. 'Just proves it's brand new and I haven't worn it.'
She shook her head and put it bag in the bag. 'How much do I owe you?'
'Nothing,' he mumbled and reached for some more fries.
'I have to pay you for it,' she replied and sat back, her arms folded, 'How much?'
He ignored her and kept eating. But when she hadn't moved for several minutes he sat back and looked at her stubborn face. 'Seriously?'
'Seriously,' she said with a nod.
He appeared to think and then said, 'I hear you're in the diving team.'
She frowned. 'Yeah...'
He smiled. 'How about I get you to give me lessons instead?'
'Lessons? In what?'
'Diving, swimming, you know,' he smiled.
'You want to learn to dive?'
'Well, yeah,' he shrugged, 'it looks like fun.'
She thought about it for a second. The shirt, she was sure, was very expensive and although she had meant it when she said she would pay for it, she still had no idea how she could do that. This seemed like a much better deal.
'Okay,' she agreed, 'I'll teach you.'
'Great!' He glanced at her almost empty plate, 'I didn't think you could eat so much!'
She glanced down. 'Hey! You ate them all!'
He shrugged and stood up. 'You really should watch what you eat, you being an athlete and all...'
Before she could utter a word, he had walked away, whistling.

Once she had ordered more fries and had a decent lunch she walked towards the student lockers, hoping to find Kal's locker so she could drop off the shirt. She had no intention of speaking to him again. She scanned the names on the lockers and finally saw his. She stared at the narrow bars in the center. There was no way she could squeeze the bag between them. She was just wondering what to do when she heard a familiar voice next to her.
''Are you looking for me?'
She practically jumped a foot backwards. Kal stood looking at her quizzically.
'No...I mean...yes,' she blurted out and almost threw the bag at him. 'Here.'
He caught it in mid air and looked inside. She looked around, waiting until he looked back up again.
'So you did buy it.'
She gave him a cold look. 'As promised.' And started to walk past him.
He caught her arm. 'What if it doesn't fit?'
She stood stock still. She hadn't thought of that. What if Kal and Cody weren't the same size? No, they both had a similar body shape as far as she could tell. Plus, she had got him the shirt, there hadn't been any provisos attached. She shook off his arm. Putting on her calmest expression she looked up at him. 'It'll fit. If it doesn't, I'm sure you know where you can exchange it.'
She walked away quickly before he could say anything else, or worse, chase after her. Hopefully she had sounded convincing.
