*Amira's POV*
The team was meeting for training this morning at the arena. Just like I promised Mako after they won their match. Korra and the boys were dressed in their training gear as they tossed around a ball. I was going through my own training sets that grandpa taught me.
"What's the big idea with making me train this early in the morning? The morning is evil." said Korra with a somewhat depressed look on her face.
"We're the rookies, so we get the worst time slot in the gym." Explained Bolin to Korra as he tossed the ball to his brother.
"And you're the rookiest of us all. We gotta get you up to speed if we want to survive in the tournament. Deal with it." Mako said as he threw the ball with a little more force than needed at Korra. She caught it easily before throwing it back with even more force than what Mako sent.
"You deal with it"
"Ooh! Ugh." Mako groaned as he landed on the floor right in front of me.
"She's not a morning person." I said as bent over, looking into his eyes. The doors to the gym suddenly opened, breaking our starring contest, as a man entered.
"There are my little hardworking street urchins." He said from the door as he made his way over the team. I also made my way over but not before helping Mako up.
"Nothing broken?" I jokingly asked him.
"Nothing I can't handle." He answered with a smirk and then turned his attention to the new comer.
"It's an honor to finally meet you, Avatar."
"And you are?"
"Butakha. I run this whole pro bending shebang." He said but it seems like Korra didn't really care as she walked away. Butakha pulled out some money from inside his coat, and Mako had his hand out. "Here's your winnings from the last match." Mako was about to put it away when he was stopped. "Ah, ah, ah. But not so fast. First, you owe me for the Avatar's new gear, gym and equipment rentals for last month, rent on your apartment, and a personal loan for groceries." at the last one a scowl formed on Mako's face as he then directed it at Bolin.
"What? I'm a growing boy." He said while rubbing his stomach.
"Oh, and one more small item of business. The Fire Ferrets need to ante up 30,000 yuans for the championship pot."
"30,000 YUANS?" Exclaimed Bolin.
"Sorry, kids. You've got till the end of the week to come up with the dough, or else you're out of the tournament." Butakha said as he turned around leaving out the doors he came from. Bolin turned to Korra as she was now standing to his right.
"You wouldn't happen to have a secret Avatar bank account overflowing with gold, would you?" He asked her to which she responded with emptying her pockets.
"I got nothing. I've never really needed money. I've always had people taking care of me." She said.
"Then I wouldn't say you had nothing." Mako commented as he picked up the ball they had been using and putting it in his gym bag.
"Sorry, I didn't mean-" Korra started only to be cut off by Bolin.
"No, it's all right, it's just.... ever since we lost our parents, we've been on our own."
