"Namjoon told me you were already aware of the situation?"
I snap back from staring at the painting in front of me and lift my eyes to look into the eyes of the piece itself. "Um..." What did he ask again? Aware...situation... "Yes, I know the main details."
Seokjin takes a sip of his coffee and his eyes glance to the side, no doubt checking to make sure his friend was okay. "What do you think?"
My eyes shift to the left as I think. "They're good for each other, I won't lie, but I don't know if Yuna is quite ready to be in a relationship yet. I'm not sure if she recovered after initially breaking up with him."
Seokjin nods and his eyes blink rapidly. I try my hardest to not break out into a grin from how adorable the small habit is. There's a moment of silence as both of us search for words to say. Seokjin is hesitating, unsure of how friendly he could be and how much he could open up. I feel a need to comfort him arise, to make him laugh. It was a pressure I would feel around anyone I was with.
My hand moves to stroke the dark material of the table. "Is this table made from a dogwood tree? I guess we'll have to check the bark."
The reaction I get is immediate. Seokjin's eyes pinch together and his cheekbones grow defined as his teeth make an appearance while he laughs. His laugh is loud and peculiar, and the unusual sound alone brings laughter out of me as well. I feel more relaxed after making him laugh. Growing up, I had learned quickly that I was happiest when making other people smile, so I had always felt a pressure to be the moodmaker of the group.
Seokjin holds up his coffee. "What did the coffee report to the police?"
I lean forward with a grin as if eager to hear his answer.
Seokjin leans forward with me and we giggle like two elementary kids. "A mugging."
Both of us burst out into laughter and the world disappears as my eyes close and my head tilts backwards. I was yet to meet someone that could match me in my corny jokes. Meeting someone I could finally laugh over ridiculous jokes with made me want to only get to know him more.
"Thanks for the reaction," Seokjin says after laughing. "Most of my members just ignore me."
I grin and shake my head. "They're just too jealous to appreciate the genius that you are."
"Right? That's what I said. But they're too stubborn to admit that."
It was no surprise his group was so successful internationally. With that personality and charisma, I was dying to know how he fit in with the different dynamics his other members contributed.
"I never got your age. If you're friends with Yuna, I'm assuming you're the same as her?"
I nod. "Twenty-two. What about you?"
Seokjin's eyebrows raise. "Twenty-eight." He shakes his head. "I feel way too old. Don't grow up," he suggests.
"Feel free to speak comfortably with me then," I say, referring to the formalities he was keeping in his dialogue.
Seokjin nods and opens his mouth to say something but then stands up. I follow his movement, although I'm unsure of what happened. When I turn around, Namjoon is walking towards us, his head down and his face mask back up.
"Let's go, hyung," he says quietly.
Seokjin turns to me. "It was nice meeting you, Hana." He leans forward and aligns his lips with my ear so only I can hear his next words. "I'm sure we'll see each other soon."
My brows squeeze together and I look up at him, trying to figure out the hidden meaning. Seokjin just winks at me and waves goodbye before following Namjoon out of the cafe.
