Two weeks. Two damn weeks! That was all it took, two weeks, and he was dying already! He had read, that depending on the situation the flowers could grow faster. But could they really be that fast? He could barely run! And he always felt something in his throat. It was like having something stuck in his throat all the time and being unable to remove it. Whenever he coughed: flowers, petals as well as vines with flowers, since the flower grows on those would come up.
When the vines came, it began to become difficult. Oikawa would have to get a scissor and cut it off, while feeling like he was dying and about to puke. And then after cutting it off, hurrying to get the rest of it out. It was always too long to be able to take in one pull. And it was extra hard, because the flower covered the whole vine, and made it wider than just a regular vine.
Honestly, he didn’t know, how much time he had left. But he knew, it wasn’t much. He wanted to spend it as good, as he could. Visit some friends, say sorry to some others, maybe gain a new friend? Talk to Iwaizumi again. Just talk to him. See if he was okay... And partly to check again, if Iwaizumi really had forgotten everything about him. But then again... it didn’t matter really. He had already decided, what to do. He couldn’t take the operation; he didn’t want to. And neither did he want to let his love kill him. He couldn’t take that. Knowing that Iwaizumi was the reason, he died? He wouldn’t put that on himself or Iwaizumi, even though the boy wouldn’t know. So what was he going to do-?
“Oikawa!” The pinkish hair boy shut Oikawa locker door in his face and pulled him out of his thoughts. “Hey buddy, we need to talk to you.” Makki nodded towards Mattsun, who stood by a door to one of the classrooms. Both of them having an expression, that scared Oikawa a little, but he agreed anyways. He couldn’t push his last friends away. Not now.
Oikawa entered the classroom, as he so, something laying on a table in the back of the classroom. He immediately knew, what this all was about. And his assumption was proven right, as the two boys closed the door and pointed at the thing on the table, while fighting back the tears.
“How long?!” The pink hair third year basically yelled at the captain. He could only look at Oikawa for a couple of seconds, before he had to wipe away, the tears in his eyes. “How long have you had it? We already lost one friend, don’t make us loose another one.” His voice got lower the longer, he talked, as if he tried to keep the tears from turning into anger.
Oikawa stood and stared at Makki for a little time, before he realized, what his friend had just said, and he couldn’t keep the tears from escaping his own eyes. Not only from sadness, but with a mix of anger. “Lost a friend?! You lost a friend?! Iwa-chan still knows, who you guys are! You still talk to him! You still joke around! Don’t you dare say, you lost a friend! Iwa-chan and I were childhood friends, and now he doesn’t even remember me! He even said, I wasn’t important straight to my face! Do you know, how that hurt me?! And he didn’t even know, he hurt me!! Normally he could see, if I had one hour less of sleep! Now?! Now he doesn’t even know my first name!”
Without realizing it, Oikawa had stepped forwards and was now standing in the face of his friend. Who had backed away as much, as he could but had ended up against a wall, as he looked his furious captain in the face. Never had Makki or Mattsun seen Oikawa so mad. They rarely even so Oikawa mad, because of his naturally cheerful personality. But that had changed, since Iwaizumi had come back from the hospital, even though Oikawa had saved all his energy to try to hide his sadness around the team. Not that it had worked, even the first years had realized it.
“Oi, Oikawa-” Mattsun reached out towards Oikawa’s shoulder partly to tell the boy, it was okay, and partly to get him away from his friend. But his hand got pushed away by Oikawa, who himself stepped away, as he realized, what had happened. He had just minutes ago told himself not to push his last friends away. And what did he do? He fought them.
“I am sorry-” Oikawa said, as he tried keeping his tears back, but to no use. They ran down his cheeks faster than ever. He hadn’t meant to get angry at Mattsun and Makki, but the anger had taken control over him, and his body had moved on his own.
“Hey Oikawa, it’s-” Mattsun tried to tell Oikawa, everything was fine, and that he totally understood, since the boy had lost his best friend and just found out, he had the same disease, that had coursed him to lose his friend. No matter what, there was no happy ending. Either he would end in the same state as Iwaizumi or die.
“Two weeks.” Oikawa responded without looking up at his last friends. “I have had it for two weeks.” The two friends felt a little relief, that they would still have their friend for a little over a month. But that relief was quickly shut down. “But it’s going fast. You know, what the books says? That the disease’s speed is depending on the situation. It has been two weeks, and I can barely breathe. Whatever situation I am in, it’s not a good one.”
Before the two friends could come with a respond, Oikawa ran out of the room, leaving the two boys speechless with the flower laying on the table. The meeting hadn’t quite gone, as they thought, it would have. They could admit, maybe they had been a bit harsh in the beginning, by saying they had lost a friend too. It was partly true, but not on the same level as Oikawa. While for them Iwaizumi had changed so much, they couldn’t recognize him, Oikawa had lost a part of himself, when he lost Iwaizumi.
