THE SUNLIGHT PEEKED THROUGH THE CURTAINS SHYLY, scared to make its presence known to anyone other than the girl in the gold silk nightgown.

Diya's eyes fluttered open as she felt the sunlight creep onto her cheeks, warming her face up as a blush would. She woke up with grace, similar to how she executed most of her movements. Her parents had taught her that poise was necessary if she was to be a suitable bahu or daughter-in-law one day.

She sat up in her bed and very quickly tied her hair up into a bun to start getting ready. Stifling a yawn with her hand, Diya moved the curtains away and levitated her clothes toward her. Her school robes flew into her lap, and she quickly closed her curtains once again, not wanting to be seen changing by any other girls who may wake up. After slipping off her nightgown and quietly putting on her robes, she removed her curtains and made her bed, trying to keep up the illusion that she had her shit together.

Right as Diya nodded to herself, satisfied with her bed's condition, she heard a groaning sound from one of her dormmates.

"Good morning!" Diya chirped as a redhead popped up from a pillow.

"Diya, how on earth are you so chipper so early?" Lily asked, rubbing the tiredness from her eyes.

"I'm just trying to reflect on others how I would like to be reflected upon," Diya said in a singsong tune, causing Lily to murmur and crumple into her pillow dramatically.

A muffled voice began to protest, followed by the sound of curtains closing, "Di, that doesn't even make sense."

"It does, my dear Alice, you're just too sluggish to comprehend my intense linguistics." Diya took her hair out of the bun that it was in, letting it cascade down her back in light waves.

"Shove those intense linguistics up your—" Marlene shot out of bed, now, in a murderous mood.

"Good morning, Marlene," Diya chuckled at the girl's mood, well aware that she was hungry and not actually mad.

The chipper girl walked over to Lily's four-poster bed and pulled her upright. Lily's head lolled to the side as she went completely limp in Diya's grasp, trying to get the girl to give up. Unfortunately for Lily, Diya was determined to walk down to breakfast with her friends, regardless of their mood.

"Come on, guys! It's Sunday, and I just want to go outside and soak in the last of the sun before Winter hits." Diya whined, attempting to pull the redhead into a standing position, but getting dragged down with her, ending up in a hovering stance.
