"Why did I say this would be a good idea?" Annabeth asked to herself, out loud, before swiping her dagger across a monster.
"I thought it would be fun!" argued Percy. "Half of us have probably never been around New York!"
Earlier that morning, when the gang were all together for breakfast, Percy had come up with the idea for them all to go into New York and explore. At first they were all hesitant since they were a group of powerful demigods and they had camp responsibilities. But Chiron said it would be fine if they were careful and with Percy's begging they said yes.
"And now half of us won't want to!" Nico shouted as he jumped up and stabbed another monster.
"Why does there have to be so many of them?" Hazel asked.
"There's a lot of us. Our smell is really strong!" Jason explained as he flew up and over a monster.
The fought hard and soon the monsters were diminishing to dust. All they were doing were walking around the neighbourhood when they were ambushed. Couldn't they just have one day of peace?
"Nico, look out!" Jason shouted.
Nico turned around from a huge monster he had just killed to see another running straight towards him. It was right behind him and he had no time to attack. He reacted on instinct and did a back handspring, his body just missing the monster's claws. He then ducked and kicked out with his foot causing the monster to stumble back. He then ran forwards and flipped over the monster, driving his sword through the monster. He landed on both feet and summoned a few skeletons; they clawed at the monster's feet and pulled it into the ground, its body exploding into golden dust.
Nico brushed his dust-coated hair out of his face. He sighed in frustration and sheathed his sword since there were no more monsters. He turned around to see all of the gang looking at him with dropped jaws.
"What?" he asked with a frown. "Why are you all doing that, you look ridiculous."
They seemed to recover and shut their gaping mouths before walking over to him and bombarding him with questions.
"How did you so that?" Annabeth asked.
"Do what?"
"All of those flips."
"Thr same way you do." Nico answered, looking confused.
"But you were so fast. I can do a flip sure but your reflexes are incredible."
"Okay?"
"You're really flexible." commented Jason.
"Right... and?"
"That was just really cool."
"Thanks. Can we go now, before any more of them show up?" Nico asked.
"Yeah, let's head back and clean up." said Piper.
They all began to head back to Camp, asking Nico how he learned those moves and him just brushing them off and being shy from their praise.
"Really, I don't know how I 'do it'. I just can."
"Can you teach me?" Hazel asked.
"I can try?"
"Really Nico, that was cool."
"Thanks Jase."
