Opinions: Hetalia + Fandoms

LGBTQ+ Representation

Hello fellow hetalians. You know I realized something. Countryhumans and hetalia are very much alike with their fanfiction and fanart. Sure the fanbases are different, hetalia having a kinda smaller fanbase than countryhumans and we don't have as many disputes anymore, but the fanfiction is all the same.

Why is it the same? Well for a number of reasons. Both use depression/mental illnesses in fanfiction. Both have a lot of yaoi. They both mostly have guys as countries.

You see what I'm getting at?

Basically you read the title, it took me this long to get to the point, we're talking about LGBTQ+ representation in the hetalia fandom.

dont_mind_me_123 made a countryhumans pet peeve book which is what the last couple of chapters have been talking about as well.

Actually, this is a very common problem. I'm still in the warriors fandom and I'll reread the occasional book or fanfic. Warriors has two settings:

Straight or Gay

You either have a straight ship which is fine, or you have a gay ship which is also fine. A couple years back actually, LGBTQ+ was a foreign thing to the community and not taken lightly. But now, ships, ships, and more ships.

I really wanna write a MtF fanfiction in either fandom. Like it's more interesting than what we got now which is edgelords who listen to My Chemical Romance and who's parents don't understand and IT'S NOT A PHASE MOM.

Why not nonbinary nations? Nonbinary is called the third gender and stuff but like why not?

Why not have a nation that uses Xe/Xim pronouns? There's so many genders out there and sexualities that are so underappreciated but we only use the LGBP out of LGBTQ+.

And even then it really is only the G out of LGBTQ+. When's the last time you've seen a good hetalia yuri fic? Those only get 200-1k reads!

Sure pansexual peeps do show up occasionally but there never is a fic where we have the main character struggle with being pansexual and being called a whore just like bad stuff.

Not everyone is gonna agree with LGBTQ+. Poland and Russia are really bad places to come out.  You either get shunned or get killed. So why would Russia and Poland be gay?

Sure they don't really represent their government, I mean look at Poland and hear Hetafacts description of Poland. Also look at Sweden and Finland. Countryhumans is more accurate with stereotypes! Though, I've seen different descriptions of Norway and Dickmark.

America isn't that homophobic. It's just the boomers and people raised to believe GAY IS A VIRUS AND SHOULD ERADICATED IMMEDIATELY. Or aren't taught anything about it.

I was confused when I saw an ad for a comic that had the word gay and two boys kissing(btw I was like 11) it made my stomach kinda weird. Like, kinda confused weird and mad weird? I don't really know?

As I kept seeing that one ad and the word gay popping up more I just got more confused. What was gay? Why did it feel so wrong saying the word gay when it came up in a book?

Also gay means happy too so-

I decided to do research and I was interested immediately. What was transgender? What was lesbian? Was I lesbian if I liked breasts?

More and more research happened and like 3 years later here I am. A happy, bisexual, mess of a person.

If you really don't want to write homophobia just have them say something like "I don't agree with your sexuality, but I won't bash on it."

Like come on dudes, we support LGBTQ+, don't fetishize it, don't have only GBP, and I swear to god if you make any of the straight females whores or assholes I will find you and I will personally have a chat with you about why that is wrong and that not all straight girl are whores.

Next chapter will be about smut(with research)
