*Ellegaard's POV*
Anxiety and excitement mixed in my stomach as I stepped through the portal leading to Crown Mesa. I had heard from Ivor and Jesse that the place was very advanced with technology, so I thought I would check it out. I jumped through the portal and landed at the beginning of a dried clay path, leading to a canyon where houses were barely visible.
I started walking, amazed at how the people here were able to live in such a dry place. A few people waved as I passed by; others only glanced in my direction before returning to their chores. The canyon I was walking through emptied out into a large space, more houses making a square around an odd machine. I was so focused on studying it from afar that I didn't notice somebody had come up behind me until they spoke.
"You must be new around here. Don't think I've seen you before." I jumped, whipping around to see a dark skinned lady with gray hair. She stepped back.
"Woah, didn't mean to startle you. I'm Harper."
"E - Ellegaard." I stammered. Mentally slapping myself, I scowled inwardly.
"Why are you stuttering? She's not a threat."
"Ellegaard. I like that name. Where are you from?" She asked, studying me. I could feel my face go slightly red.
"Have you heard of Jesse?" Harper's eyes lit up.
"You're a friend of his? I haven't heard from him in ages. How is he?"
"He's fine. Beacontown is a bit in shambles, but it's rebuilding quickly." Her head tilted in confusion.
"Right. You've never been to our dimension. Tell you what. I'll tell you that story, if you tell me the story of this thing." I gestured to the odd machine taking uo most of the clearing. Harper grinned, leading me over to a bench.
"Deal. But I get to tell mine first."
"Fine by me."
*Several hours later*
"And that's what happened." She finished.
"You managed to create a sentient robot, and I couldn't even create a command block!" I pouted. Harper laughed.
"Alright, if you tell me your story, I'll show you a few things."
"Alright. Not sure how accurate this'll be though."
*Another while later*
"And that's how Jesse defeated an Admin." I finished proudly. Harper stared at me in amazement, mouth agape.
"Admins are real?!" She gasped, astonished.
"Apparently. So, now do I get to see how you built PAMA?" I asked, flashing a smile. Harper stood up, holding out a hand.
"But of course. Follow me." She led me out of the town and across the desert to a hidden hideout.
"Woah.." I breathed at the way the entrance was designed. Harper smirked, jumping down into a small block of water. I stared at the spot before finally jumping down after her.
"Took you long enough."
"Oh hush. You've probably done that hundreds of times." I muttered. Harper just rolled her eyes and lead me deeper into the building.
After hours of sharing redstone ideas, I realized I couldn't stop staring at her beautiful brown eyes. A small flush crept up my cheeks as her hand accidentally brushed mine.
"You alright? Gettin' kinda red there, Ellegaard." I snapped back into focus.
"Er, yeah! It's just erm... H - hot in here!" I stuttered. Harper raised an eyebrow, but didn't press further.
Soon, it was night.
"Are you alright with sharing my room? I don't have a guest room here." Harper explained nervously.
"Yeah, I'd be fine with that." I said, a little faster than a probably should have. Harper nodded and lead me to a small room off of the main lab. We sat there in her room talking for several hours, and I could feel myself falling more an old more in love. Finally, I couldn't take it anymore.
"Hey Harper, I was wondering if we could try and make an invention together?" I asked hesitantly. Harper perked up.
"Sure! What kind? Practical? For fun?"
"Actually..." I stood and walked closer to her.
"I was thinking of an invention of the heart." Then I kissed her.
I pulled away to see Harper's shocked face.
"Oh god, I fucked up didn't I?" I thought in panic before Harper leaped forwards and reconnected our lips.
We made out for almost a minute before pulling away for air.
"I like this kind of invention." She murmured, leaning against me with her arms around my neck. I smiled, hoping this moment would never end.
