Just a day ago, if you told me that this was going to be the beginning of the turning point of my life and that I would get a makeover from Haze who has not as much as noticed me, get into a fight with Mauve, have a bestfriend, meet my father after 18 years of my life and get a new family, get my heart broken and even fall in love with a jerk. A hot one though.

I would laugh so much that my ribs will crack and my glasses will fall off. Well it did fall off.

Today was the beginning and the day my life would take a drastic turn.

Chapter One | Mothers Wear Capes too

I never wake up early and today was not an exception. The bedside alarm buzzed five times and I groaned, tossing and turning on my not so large bed only to end up falling off the bed to the cold floor on my ass. And at that exact moment, I blinked my eyes open and shrieked when I saw the sun beaming into my room and then as if on cue my twin brother Zeke's voice rang loudly into my room,"Zara, you have five minutes to get your ass down here or I'm leaving you to find your way to school on your own."

Panicking, I got off the floor in a split second and rushed into the bathroom to do my morning business as fast as I could, because Zeke means everything he says and I'm not about to walk ten miles to school.

My room is a bit small but cozy and neatly arranged. A small bed, a dressing mirror that I don't need,a work table, a small closet that was filled with black clothes and stacks and stacks and shelves of books on art, Biology, literature, history, English, Government and so on. I'm not the kind of teenager that had posters of their teenage idols plastered on their walls. The walls of my room are plain maroon- Get the big picture, I'm a full blown Nerd.

I rushed out of the bathroom in a towel, then skidded to the mirror and stripped. I don't really have one of those desirable bodies. Lanky with stick thin arms, slim legs, a gaunt face and highly visible cheekbones, Assless, Boobless. Infact you might have to check my genitals to determine my gender. Even though everyone wants to look perfect, I love my body anyway.

Fully dressed in black hoodie and a black striped jeans with black sneakers, I was checking myself out in the mirror. Yeah black and black and black, why? You must ask. Incase you were wondering, I don't even like black and as a matter of fact, almost all the clothes in my wardrobe are black in color because it always helps me stay kind of hidden. Black is dull and so am I. So, intentionally, I stay away from flashy and coloured clothes to stay unnoticed. I wear black so much that I often look like death itself.

Snapping out of my thoughts and realizing I had used more than five minutes, I ran a lazy hand through my thick long black hair that I had barely washed, nor ran the bristles of a brush through in weeks, months even, then pulled it into a long ponytail that grazed the small of my back.

I know what you're thinking, next is a little makeup. Make what? Who is she? Do I think I know her? Well, no I don't. I've gone to school and everywhere for years without the use of makeup or deodorant, not because I can't afford or apply it. Simply because I don't fancy it, Characteristics of a Nerd! Or rather, characteristics of me.

I picked up my thick black glasses from my bedside drawer and put it on. I don't really have an eye defect or anything, in pure fact, I just wear it because it completes my 'I'm a Nerd, bring your assignments and projects, I'mma do it for you' look. A dictionary will tell you that a nerd is seen as overly intellectual, introverted and lacking social skills and they're damn right.

Giving myself a once over, I trotted down the stairs that lead to the living room and caught sight of My mom and Zeke at the breakfast table. Mom was already dressed in her chic work clothes and Zeke was shoving pancakes down his throat as fast as he could.
