Chapter 6

The day was almost over when I received a text from my parents saying that they were heading back home for a week.  This meant that I'll probably have to cancel my practices so that I could spend some time with them.

As soon as school let out, I called Dex and told him that my parents will be home soon and asked him to help me cancel all the practices for the entire week.  He was a little disappointed that he wouldn't be able to see me this week, but I assured him that I will try to sneak out to see them if anything.

"Bella speaking," she answered.

"Did you get the text?" I asked, watching the road ahead of me carefully.

"Yeah, what time do you think they're going to be at the house?"

"I believe that they will arrive around four.  I'm going to head home first and prepare some snack for them when they get back."

"Should I meet you in twenty?"

"You don't have to," I told her.

I heard her sigh over the phone.  "I'll be there in twenty."

If there is one thing that Bella cares about more than anything else, it's the approval of our parents.  She would do anything to make them happy.  If I'm doing anything for our parents, she would stop whatever she's doing and offer to help.

I know that I'm being used, but as long as she treats me right, I could care less.  Although Bella and I are twins, my parents would pick Bella over me any day because she's more social and outgoing, just like my parents.  Although my grades are better than Bella's, they don't like me for who I am, or at least who I'm acting to be.  Since mom and dad really don't care much for me, it feels nice to know that at least one of my family members care about me.

Sometimes, I feel as if I'm more of an adopted daughter than anything.  In all honesty, James is a better brother to me than my family.

Hours later...

"Mom, dad," I greeted timidly.

"Mom!  Dad!  You're finally home," Bella screeched enthusiatically as she ran straight at our parents and engulfed them in an embrace.

"It's good to see you, too," my parents chorused.

"We've prepared some snacks for you," Bella said.  "Let's go to the kitchen."  I trailed silently behind them into the kitchen and settled farthest from them.

My parents didn't particularly care abou my life, but they still gave me an unlimited card for me to get whatever I want.  Luckily, they also gave me a debit card and a lot of cash.  My parents know that I prefer cash over a credit card so they created a bank account for me.  The only times that I use the credit card is when I'm buying daily necessities.  I got myself plenty of cars, but they never asked what I needed them for and they've never seen the cars around.  The only car that they have ever seen is the one that I drive around everyday, which is pretty decent, but definitely not the latest edition, a red 2010 Kia Forte Koup.

They never seemed to care though, never once asking me where the cars went.  The truth was, they were either in Dex or James' garage.

"I'm going to go stay over at my friend's house tonight," I told them.  I guess I'm really not needed here if they were going to focus all their attentions on Bella.

It was as if they hadn't heard me at all, so I left quietly.  I grabbed all my stuff and packed for an entire week instead of one night, then left without a second glance.  I texted Dex and told him that I was going to stay over at his hosue for the week.  His parents weren't home much, but it didn't matter whether or not they were home.  They treated me like their own and there were times when they've encouraged Dex and I to go out, which was not something that happens often, especially coming from Dex's parents.

"What happened to cancelling all your classes for this week?" he teased.

"My parents are back and I thought that I would have to spend some time with them, but I guess Bella could do that for me.  Did you call in yet?"

"Of course not.  I thought that that was going to happen, so I called your ball room dancing teacher and told him that you might be late for class.  I'll take care of your stuff, just get to class."  Dex could be a sweetheart sometimes.  He grabbed my luggage and shut his front door in my face.  Okay, nevermind, he's a jerk.

I quickly sped off down the road and rushed to class.  Thankfully, I was only five minutes late, which meant that I only missed part of warm up.  Drew only smirked at me when I walked into class.  I discreetly stuck out my tongue at him when everyone else was looking the other way.

Drew is the ballroom dance instructor.  He's actually one of the guys.  He's exactly the type of guy who would flirt with any girl with no shame, although he could not openly flirt with his students, at least not verbally.

When I got to know James, he introduced me to Drew my other dance instructor .  Drew, like James,  minor in dance at their college.  While James is in his third year, Drew is in his second.  Aside from Dex, I would say that the only other guy whose life depends on flirting with me is this kid.  Drew is definitely your ladies man and the guy you'll miss when you are in a serious situation that needs a tension breaker.  He could turn anything serious into a joke with a matter of seconds, but when necessary, he could be serious.  He definitely has the looks and is also a heart breaker.

Drew made the others to start practicing while he came over to me and helped me warm up.  It was his excuse to get closer  to me so that he could flirt with me.  "Babe, where have you been?  Coming late to my class is unacceptable," he whispered into my ear.

I shuddered at his breath and replied, "Family issues."

He knew exactly what I meant and changed the topic.  "So, when are you going to come over to my place? I miss having you in my bed..." he trailed off.  "Naked," he finished in a husky voice.

I was about to whack him when I realized that I was still in class and he was my superior at thr monent. I sent him a glare and rolled my eyes as I continued to warm up. Well, two could play the game. "I'm glad that you missed me in bed. I always knew that I'm the best you'll ever have."

"Well, Angel, would you mind giving me another taste of Heaven?"

"Be serious, would you?"

"Alright," he chuckled.  "Ready?"

I gave him a nod and the two of us joined the rest of the group.

Class went by faster than I thought, but I didn't really mind today.  Drew waited for me as I went to change and we headed for Dex's house together.  Drew enjoys spending time away from home, simply because no one's really home.  His mother past away when he was young and his father is constantly travelling due to his job.

I guess I should be grateful that my mom's still very much alive, but I just can't find myself appreciating my family when they don't really care about me.
