||•Summary•||
Alyx's oldest ancestor was damned by a fierce dark overlord that they had escaped from, the curse creates monstrous Shadows in the dead of night and attacks the cursed boy every single night due to the curse only spreading down the generations of his family. The malediction cannot be lifted so the victims must receive several permanent cuts whenever the monsters attack, which no mere mortal can simply fight back.

But when Alyx is only a newborn, his mother brings him to three forest witches that she believes could save him from eternal torture of the dreaded curse. Alyx's mother did not want her child to become as deformed as her with all her large scars littering her body that shall never go away, so she had thought the witches could cure him... she was wrong.

The witches had told her, "This curse is far too deep in the soul to extract it, but we may have a solution for your child and the many generations of your family after him." They then did a ritual at the very last seconds of midnight, they summoned a "Dark Protector" which is a sort of guardian demon but only protects you in the pitch black hours.

The protector's name was Echo, he was only just born but still had awaited thousands of years to be summoned from the darkness. Only a shadow of a small child with pure white eyes appears, the witches had commanded him, "Swear on your existence you will protect and give love to the child in that blanket and never tell him nor a lone soul you have been brought to life by the likes of three witches you see before thee."

Alyx's mother then eventually died from one final strike to the head by a monster along with his diseased father many years ago, he was taken to several orphanages and was adopted several times, but the boy seemed to only scare people away when he was never frightening to begin with, so every time he was brought to a home he was only sent back that same night.

At the age of ten, Alyx had finally found a family that loved him and never seemed to fear him. His parents had told him it was because they were satanists and had done several rituals that left them fearless and ready for more danger, he loved them with all his heart.

Once Alyx turns sixteen, he ends up meeting a group of devious teenagers that are secretly angered shadow monsters that somehow had disguised themselves as humans to try to become Alyx's friend and killing him in a way that makes it seem like a accident... Echo did not like this, but he knew as only a shadow that hides in the darkness to watch over him, that he cannot do what must be done.

Echo came up with a idea; while the leader of the humanized shadow monsters weren't looking, he took half of Alyx's life force and created his own physical form instead of being trapped inside a shadow figure. Echo then proceeded to save Alyx from every attempt to kill him that the monsters pulled with ease, which only raged the monsters more.

Echo didn't realize that through taking half of Alyx's soul, he had physically, mentally, and emotionally bonded them. Now Echo and Alyx feel and think the same things, can both transform into a humanoid form and shadowed form, and most necessities a human has aren't entirely required to survive any longer.
