This is basically Merman Tom x Tord, I posted this in my conversations and a lot of people seemed to like it, so this might be the cover for it! Here, have some long unneeded story stuff I made for this AU thingamabob:

Tord was a inventor and spent many hours in his basement trying to come up with a invention that the town they live in will actually believe works but will still change the world they all live in; all of his inventions seemed too good to be true and even when he demonstrated it and it worked, they still had refused to even consider they were real. Edd and Matt always tried to tell Tord that he didn't need to convince anyone it worked and he could just use it for himself, but Tord insisted he wanted to make the world a better place and convincing the town was the first step in the process to complete his goal.

There was a urban legend down in the sea that merfolk who were born with seven fins on their tail were the offspring of the evil ocean God, Lucius (I made this God up). Which this urban legend left Tom all alone with no friends and even his parents abandoning him when he was only a child, which luckily a Cecaelia had found him and took him in as their own. Tom usually would swim around the surface and watch humans swim since he always wished he could be a human where no one would judge him instantly for how many fins he has...

Edd and Matt had convinced Tord to go jump off of a large cliff above the ocean with them that they had found while they were swimming below it, they had said, "You need to get out of that musky basement and get some sunlight!" which took Tord a lot to go, but he ended up going anyway.

Tom had noticed the three men jumping off the cliff while he was out collecting seaweed for that night's dinner his parent were preparing, so he decided to watch from a distance to observe like he does with all humans he encounters.

Tord was hesitant to jump the entire time since he wasn't used to being outside from months of being inside and only going out to try to impress the mayor of their little town. Which once Edd and Matt had convinced him to jump he stood at the very edge and looked down, but he hadn't realized how unstable the edge of the cliff was and it crumbled below him.

Tord fell off the cliff with the rubble below him and a rock from above him knocking him on the head, knocking him unconscious as he fell into the water. Tom was surprised from the view of the male falling down, but figured the man would be fine since none of the rubble was on top of him when he fell... but once he wasn't coming up from the waves, Tom quickly noticed he was drowning and kicked into action.

Most merfolk would have stayed aside and kept themselves a secret from the humans since they know the violent tendencies the humans have when it comes to new things, but Tom isn't someone who will let another person die just because he's a different species!

Tom pulled Tord out from the darkness and realized he was running out of air, so he quickly took the air from his mouth and kissed the man, letting his air into his mouth so he can survive the trip.

But before Tom can bring him to the surface, Tord opened his eyes from the kiss waking him up and looked at the merman with Tom looking him right back. They were both instantly in love just by looking at each other; which once Tord was losing air again and slowly passing out, Tom then realized he had to say goodbye and brought him to a empty beach where he would rest until his friends found him.
