Later while the guys were in the water, Sage was with Quincy and Dax catching up with all of her friends she hadn't seen much over summer break. She had seen what felt like everyone but the one person she actually wished to see - Trevor. Sage was about to turn to Quincy and ask about Trevor when she felt Dax pull on her arm. Sage looked at Dax to see her gesturing to their left with a huge grin on her face. Sage looked over and saw Trevor talking to some guys by a fire pit and instantly started to freak, She stopped in her tracks and turned to both her friends.
"OhMyGod" The words felt like they had fallen right out of her mouth rather then her speaking them. Trevor and his family had gone on a holiday to Miami for the whole summer and he had come back so much better looking then he already was.
"The god of all good looks has greatly blessed this human." Quincy said with wide eyes full of lust.
"There is a god." Dax said. Dax had always refereed to Trevor as boyish looking and called him the pre puberty kid. - of course not to his face only when it was just the three of us-.
"Ohh you guys shut up." Sage laughed "After all you guys are the ones with boyfriends, which means he's all mine."
The three girls continued talking and joking around when suddenly Dax and Quincy's facial expression began to change. like they were both star stuck. Sage felt a hand on her shoulder and was too terrified to turn around.
"Hey." She heard a deep and friendly voice say which caused her to instantly know it was Trevor. She could hear his voice in a crowd of 100. Sage turned and smiled."Hey Trevor, How was Miami?" Oh crap, did that sound too creepy. What were you thinking Sage oh my god your so stupid, Sage heard the little voice in the back of her head say.
"It was really fun, but I'm stoked to be back. I missed you."
"Me?" Sage must have seemed like she thought it was all a joke because Trevor laughed and responded with,
" Yeah, is it really that hard to believe. I always did think you were kind of cute."
Sage could not believe this was happening. Has hell finally frozen over? Are there pigs flying?
" I actually wanted to ask you this before I left but I never got the chance. I was wondering if you wanted to go out sometime?"
Hell must have frozen over. It took Sage a good 30 seconds to realize the question he had just asked was not a joke he was serious. He seriously wanted to go out with her. On a date. Oh. My. God.
"I'd love that" Sage smiled trying to keep her cool.
"Cool what do you say this Friday afternoon, before school starts."
"That sounds amazing."
"I was just about to paddle out. Feel like joining" Trevor looked at Dax and Quincy "You guys can come too of course."
"You too go. We'll catch up." Quincy said.
"Cool let me grab my board. I'll be right back."
As soon as he left Sage turned to her friends
"What in the hell just happened." Sage said realizing her mouth was still hanging open and closed it.
"You just got asked out, now stay cool and try not to drowned or wipe out to hard while your out there okay."
As soon as Sage was about to respond to Quincy she felt Trevor's hand on the small of her back.
"You ready."
"Lets go." Sage said melting on the inside
As they were paddling out, since they didn't talk with the waves crashing and rolling in being to loud to here each other speak Sage tried to wrap her head around everything that had just happened. Her dream guy since the 8th grade had just shown up from another state with perfectly toned abbs and perfect silky hair and had asked her to go on a date with him AND go for a surf. There has to be a catch, this is too good to be true. When they both got to flat water and sat up on the boards next to each other Sage spoke up.
"Can I ask you something?"
"Shoot."
"Why now? Don't get me wrong or anything I would really love to go on a date with you but we've known each other all these years, Why ask me out now?"
"To tell you the truth I was scared. You are just so beautiful and smart and just so great over all I didn't think you would like me." Sage wanted to start bursting out with laughter when she heard this. Her NOT like him. When Trevor was saying this Sage tried to think of a time where he had seemed this genital and caring, she couldn't.
"Your really great you know that."
Trevor smiled. After hours of laughing and surfing with all their friends Sage and Trevor paddled in.
"Do you need a lift home? Trevor asked.
'Thanks but no thanks Mase is gonna take me home."
"Let me rephrase that Trevor smirked resting his hands on Sages hips "Let me give you a lift home."
Sage smiled and nodded.
Trevor and Sage walked over to his car and talked.
"So what exactly are we doing Friday?" Sage asked.
Trevor opened the car door and Sage slid in. Trevor came close to her face as if he were to kiss her and Sages heart skipped a beat. But he didn't.
"I have something planned" Trevor grinned.
On the way to Sages house in between her giving him directions she text Mase.
" Grabbed a ride home with Trevor, Text me tomorrow and we'll hang."When they got home Trevor walked her to her door and they hugged goodbye "See you Friday" he teased. Sage waited for till she saw Trevor's car drive off and walked around to the side gate of her house. She walked in through the back door and crept up to her room. She put on some shorts and a tank top and crawled into bed turning on her music making sure it was quite enough so only she could hear it. She looked at the time displayed on her phone 4:34. Wow what a night. Then a though popped into her head. Friday, She smiled on last smile for the night and fell fast asleep imagining what Friday would be like.
