Two days later, Jamie is on the recovery he has visited her child his still in a coma. The boys seem ok, seems like they all know about Aidan as well, which is good. I have no idea why he thought we wouldn't love him the same. His still Aidan, hopefully, his brothers will help him out in the parts of his life that he won't ask me to help in. I am on my way to the school this time unannounced and ready to kick some ass, this is crap I have done some more digging and all three boys have said the same thing they have been tarnished with the stigma from mine and my brothers time at the school. Which shouldn't have been a problem should judge the student by what the student is like with you not by who their family is.

I found the board room, knowing they are in a meeting this is perfect timing for me to make my views clear. I don't even knock on the door, before entering they all look up at me. They all know me some I have done work for their companies or homes. I am not a person who normally throws my company or name around to get what I want, so when I do people notice. "I need to have word with all of you right now, and it cannot wait and no I will not go quietly." I snapped so loudly that they all looked at me shocked, "Dean, what is this all about?" John asked, "John are you telling me you haven't heard what your dear Principal and fellow teaching staff have done?"

Sarcasm is dripping from my voice, "If this is about your son who is always misbehaving getting kicked off the football team then yes, and why would we want to do anything for you,  Mr. McCarthy?" Bitchy Barbara said, "Well Barbara next time your shop or your house needs something remember all McCarthy companies won't be available to help you at all, you'll have to travel a few towns over to find what you need." I said as I walk around running my hand over the tops of the chairs doing my best to keep my face neutral which makes them scared, "wowowo Dean no need to throw threats around." John said throwing a hand up in the air, "Oh, there is a need to throw threats around. My boys have been thrown under the McCarthy name assumptions this town has for us and y'all wonder why the boys act out? Y'all have judged them to be poorly behaved kids before you even got to know them. What is worst is the coach and the Principal have all punished my child for misbehaving but the other children on the team who misbehave just as much as mine go unpunished feel this is highly unfair!" I raised my voice, "What do you mean by this Dean? Do you have evidence to back up your statement?" Steven asked me. "You think I would burst into this room without having any evidence Steven? Yes, I do, also seeing as this school seems to live off winning football games, how many do you think you can win without my three boys on the team? Not my fault the coach seems to rely only on a few key players to win. Which is a poor way to play don't you think?"

I throw down all the files I had in my hand as the three closest to them start opening and reading them. I stand at the foot of the long table with my arms crossed over my chest while I wait for all of them to read.  A good five minutes later I had enough of waiting. "Right, that is my evidence if you disagree with what I have just shown you good luck trying to fix or update anything remotely to your companies or houses as no one in this town would help you." Anna looked shocked at me, "You wouldn't"

"Oh, but I would Anna. Or would you like me to tell your husband how you tried to jam your tongue down my throat when you were dropping off food for my family after my wife died?" She lost all color to her face, "I" I cut her off, "Don't say you didn't, I may have been out of my mind with grief but I do remember things." Steven let out a cough to stop me with my attack on Anna, "You have enough evidence to get them to drop their discipline on your son. He can play, but the other matter we won't be able to help until the girl's family comes forward." I looked shocked wasn't expecting it to be that easy, "Does that mean he still has his scholarship?"

"Yes, only will be dropped if it turns into legal matters. With these photos of the girl's text messages to your son is enough to show that they are more involved in this matter than they are letting on." Steven said, "Good, give me a call when this matter is complete. Nice doing business with you all again." I turned around and headed back to my truck, I have a few copies of that file I just left them with. I dam hope this does work out for the best, so far it looks promising. I need to finish a few things off with work before I can go home, the boys are taking the bus today as their car had been taken in to get its regular service. Alexander is shadowing Aaron for the day, letting them two bond some more. Need to make sure the O'Brian's job is on schedule, pulling up to the site trucks all over the place. Good to see the contractors and my crew are here. Everyone that I see says their hello's while I walk around the place, plasterboard is going up and the tiles are getting laid in the bathrooms.

William spots me and smiles, "Hey Dean, I didn't know you were coming on-site today?" My foreman asked, "I thought I had told you I was coming in to see if we are on schedule." He chuckles, "Oh, I must have not remembered. Yes, so far, we are on our normal schedule pace, if everyone turns up when they are supposed to. The kitchen installation should be getting started tomorrow after the floors have been done." While he's talking my eyes are going over all the details around me, "When will they be here doing the floors?" From what I can see the floors won't be done in time for the kitchen, "The floor guys are booked in to come over this afternoon after the plasters are done." I hope they are the fast ones that we normally get, "Good and the new guy?" He smiled at me, "He's good so far Dean takes orders well and does good work."

"Good." I went to pop my head into the bathroom, it all looks good. When I heard a crashing sound coming from the master bathroom. We all raced in seeing one of the tilers on the floor and a box of tiles smashed in front of him. I quickly raced down to him, checking him over nothing is broken but his still not waking up. His boss comes running in with a pack in his hands. "Shit Jessie, I told you to drink that juice." I looked at the tiler, "His a diabetic?"

"Yes." He takes a needle out, putting it to his thumb until the blood has come out, and puts the blood onto a strip and placing it into the machine, it beeps and he turns to me. "His having a low hand me that juice please Dean."

"Sure." I lean over grabbing the juice, while he's trying to wake him up. Which isn't working I look up and my site manager is on the phone to 911. "Does he have glucose in a needle? He's not going to be able to drink that."

"Yes, in this pack can you get him on his side, please. He may vomit once I inject him with this. How far off are the Paramedics?"

"About 5 minutes out." He's just been injected with the needle, please work. His eyes are moving around, he starts groaning. His boss retests his blood sugars, he lets out a groan I quickly hand him the juice as he is coming around. "Jessie mate you need to drink this." Jessie starts slowly drinking the juice before fully coming to sculling it down, wiping his face, and looking around the room. "Fuck did I pass out?"

"Yeah mate you did, told you to drink that juice before heading into this room."

"Sorry, Dale I'll keep a close eye on my levels next time."

"So, you should." The paramedics have arrived and they do their thing, I start cleaning up the broken tiles as they take him away to the hospital for more checks. "I'll pay for the extra box out of my wage Dean, should have done more" Yes good point Dale as I am not paying for something like this, "Fair enough, but also when he's cleared to come back on-site his not to work alone. Don't want him to hurt himself or others."

"I can do that."

"Good." I put the broken tiles into the bin, before checking on the rest of the house. "Will I'll be in onsite tomorrow, if you need anything today, I'll be in the office." He smiled at me, "Sure, also here is the paperwork you had asked for." I smiled at him, "Thanks." William walked up closer to me so only I could hear and not the rest of our workers, "How did the school board take it?"

"Good so far." He said good too, a few hours later I have finished work and was in the kitchen getting dinner on before the boys get home. They always come home late when on the bus knowing them, they will be hungry. Doing the trick my mom used to do for us boys, having a big plate of fruit and veggies with dip and homemade sweets but due to my lack of cooking, it's store-bought sweets for them. My phone is going off, I quickly answer it while putting dinner in the oven. Aaron had dropped Alexander off at the school bus stop so he can come home with his brothers.

_-_-_-_PHONE CALL_-_-_-_

**Dean** Hello Dean McCarthy speaking
**Aaron** Dean really you didn't look at who was calling your phone?
**Dean** Hi Aaron, no I didn't was putting dinner in the oven.
**Aaron** Ahh Dana would be so proud of you or shit scared for the kids.

He starts laughing.

**Dean** I know you didn't call to make fun of my cooking skills.
**Aaron** Oh, that's right you up for a family grill session this weekend?
**Dean** Would Jamie be out?
**Aaron** Unsure.
**Dean** How about we make it the weekend after he gets out.
**Aaron**  Ok, it will be at my place got it. I'll tell Tony and Dad.
**Dean** Good, let me know if I need to bring anything.
**Aaron** No just bring the boys and that new hot girl of yours.
**Dean** Can I go on a date with her first a few times before I introduce her to you crazy bunch of people.
**Aaron** Oh, you love us at our craziest. From what I was told Jamie had meet Dana on your first date
**Dean** You know what Aaron she's not Dana. I would love for you to stop comparing the two. I am doing my best to move on here I don't need you to keep bringing up what I did with her. It's all I think about is my wife, would she be happy with what I just said to our boys, or what does she think about their behavior.
**Aaron** (He cuts me off) Dean I'm sorry, that is not what I was aiming for. Just want to meet the women that have caught your attention. That's all.
**Dean** You will meet her when I am ready, just drop it.

I don't know why he made me so angry but I couldn't help it. I ended the call right after that, quickly clean up my mess before making my way to the lounge to catch the highlights of last night's game that I had missed. An hour later I can hear them coming up the driveway something is up, I look up at the front door as Alex comes bounding in happy as anything. "Dad! I cannot believe it but you did it! You did it! The girls are getting questioned, the other players are on detention and I am BACK ON THE TEAM!" He comes running at me slamming into me for a quick hug before racing into the kitchen. "Can I have a beer?"

"Stupid question Alexander the answer is when you're 21! So, no! But yes, I did talk to the school board today."

"Best dad right there Aidan and Sebastian!"

"What the hell are you sucking up for?" Sebastian said as he placed his bag down in his room.
"Yeah, I second that what are you after?" I said looking at my son in question, "Nice family I have!" He raised his voice at me, "Yes, we are a lovely bunch, aren't we? But spill Alex we all know you very well."

"I want to go to," Alexander said but didn't get to finish as Sebastian yelled over the top of him, "No way! You got invited to that party?!" I looked at them both, "Right all of you start talking, what party?" Alexander's excitement was fading fast, "The team captain is throwing a massive party to celebrate his birthday, he invited me. I thought he invited you two as well?" That's when I notice the look on Aidan's face, "Nope, he said he didn't want no faggot at his house" I didn't let him finish as I burst out, "He said WHAT?! NO NONE OF YOU ARE GOING! YOU HEARING ME ALEXANDER?!"

Alexander looked hurt at his brother, "Is that true? He said that to you?" Sebastian nods his head, "Yes, I was in the locker room when he said it. Told him to fuck off it's the 21st century, not the middle ages." Alexander is about to explode, "I'm going to kill him." I point my finger at him, "No violence." He groans out, "Arghh! You're a Debbie downer dad!" I shake my head at him, "No, I am saving you from being kicked off the team again." He looked serious at us all, "I know! But no one says that about our Aidan and gets away with it!"

"I believe he said it cause he's gay too." Aidan said so softly, "No, reason for anyone to use those words.  Are you ok?" He smiled at me, he looks like his mom right now. "Yeah, much better dad. I told my friends today and they pretty much took it just as well as you all did." Sebastian looks like he's about to laugh at his brother, "Well it's no longer a taboo subject people are out in the open and ok with it. Has been for years."

"Good, happy you are ok. Tell me when you are not ok. Now off you go unpack your bags, do your homework than chores." That got me a room full of moaning and groan and complaints all that did was get my anger from earlier backup. "Or I can think of other things you all could do around the house?" Aidan stood up shaking his head no,  "Nope I am good; I have enough schoolwork to sink a ship." They all stood up sorting out their bags but came back standing in front of me, "Well then why are you all talking to me go to the table and get to work. I have the afternoon snacks you can eat while you work."

"Oh, yum dad thanks!" I knew he would love it both he and Aidan dug into the food while Alex was in his room digging around for something. I leave them to it while I check my phone for emails and text messages. I couldn't stop thinking about her, wished all of this was a dream a nightmare. My background hasn't changed it's still the same photo of me and her, no matter how many phones I go through that photo gets uploaded onto it right away. I received a text message while I was looking at old photos, it's from Jodie. I like her I do but deep down I keep thinking she is not Dana that is all I want is her. I know I can never get her back I just want to find someone that took my breath away as much as she had done, Jodie is the closest to that but I don't want to replace the boy's mother either.

_-_-_-_Text Message_-_-_-_

**Jodie** Hi Dean, it finally happened I have four days off please tell me you have time off soon too.
**Dean** What days are you talking about?
**Jodie** I have this Friday to Monday off.
**Dean** I have the weekend off; sorry I cannot take Friday or Monday off. I am meeting a few clients on Monday and I must finish off a few things on one of my work sites on Friday. But night-time I am free.
**Jodie** Ok, how about we do a Friday night date and if we enjoy ourselves have another Saturday night?
**Dean** Sounds good.
**Jodie** Sorry, did I give you enough time for you to work on a babysitter?
**Dean** Don't worry about that I have three members of my family who would be happy to watch them.
**Jodie** Good to know. Is it too early to say that I have missed you since we have last seen each other?
**Dean** No never too early.
**Jodie** You're so easy to talk to.
**Dean** So are you.

While I wait for her to respond I sent off another text to my brother to see if he would like to watch the boys for me.

**Dean** Aaron care to have the boys at your place Friday night?
**Aaron** Oh, you're talking to me again I see. Why?
**Dean** Sorry, I was angry. I have someplace to be on Friday night and I don't trust them by themselves not after what they have told me.
**Aaron** Why aren't they going to this big party?
**Dean** Because he told Aidan he wasn't allowed to join the party as he was a faggot.
**Aaron** Are you for real?! Fuck yep my kids aren't going now. I can see why you wouldn't trust them home by themselves. Bring them over after they have finished their homework if they have any and pick them up Sunday morning.
**Dean** Deal.

Jodie never texted back most likely had to go back to work. Best to get these boys ready for the rest of this week or this weekend won't happen, along with my paperwork. I wonder if other people who have lost their loved ones feel like they are cheating when they are trying to move on. Maybe I should start going to that support group all my family keeps telling me about.
