Chapter 18: The big meeting part two (Dean's POV)

The front door opens as soon as I told her that I hope she's ready. I can hear Alexander before I see him. "Dad! If that is her cooking, we can smell you need to marry her!!"

Sebastian's voice was next. "Think I have gained ten pounds just smelling dinner!"

Aidan's voice booms over the pair of them, "You two move out of my way, I want to get to the food before Alex eats it all!"

"No one will be eating anything if they have forgotten their manners and the house rules."

"Sorry Dad, it's just that smell of whatever she has cooked. Smells so much better than Auntie Erin's cooking that we have lost our minds over it." Alexander complains. "Oh... don't ever let Auntie Erin hear you say that about her cooking." While they are laughing and putting their coats, boots, and bags away in the mudroom I grab a hold of Jodie's hand she looks a little nervous.

"Ok boys would like you to meet Jodie, my girlfriend. My oldest Alexander, then his twin brother Sebastian and the baby of the family Aidan."

"Hi boys it's nice to finally meet you, your dad speaks highly of you all," Jodie said politely.

Alexander gives her a big smile, "Hi Jodie, I doubt that when it comes to me."

Jodie smiles back at him, "Oh Alexander, even when he told me about the troubles you have been having, he was still kind."

Aidan looks at his oldest brother with that I told you so look, "Told you Alex dad wouldn't bad mouth about you! Oh, but you don't believe anything I say"

"Aidan stop please," I warned.

Sebastian smiles at her too. "Hi, Jodie, nice to meet you. When can we eat that amazing smelling food that you have made?"

"Well, once you all have cleaned up, done all your schoolwork and chores." She said with a smile on her face. Aidan smiled at her, "Hi Jodie, about time dad has found someone."

"I change my mind I don't like her; she sounds like you dad!" Alexander started giggling. "Why because I won't let anyone eat until they have done their afterschool chores?" I asked.

Aidan let out a groan, "Alex the quicker we do all of that the quicker we get to eat it!" The three of them took off into their rooms and started doing what she said, I stood in shock looking at Jodie. "Wow.... You say it once and they go and do it? Wow it has taken me years to master that and"

"Cat got your tongue, Dean?" She asked.

"I love you" I didn't even give it a second thought, the way she smiled at them, the way she spoke to them, the way they behaved around her. All of that chipped away the last of my doubts about her, picking her up into a hug kissing her. Jodie wraps her arms around my shoulders and returns the kiss but taps my shoulder to let me know to put her down.

"Hmmm god, what did I do to get a kiss like that Dean?" She asked.

"Being yourself."

"Um..."

"Sshh, say it when you're ready. Not just because I was." She just smiles up at me and kisses my cheek before heading off into the bathroom. I start setting the table the way Dana and Erin had shown me one Christmas. I was smiling to myself when I felt someone watching me, I look up and see Aidan leaning against his bedroom door looking at me with a smile on his face. "Want to help me out?" I asked.

"Sure, I'll get the glasses for you." We work quickly together before I headed into the kitchen to get the rest of the dinner things ready. "You know dad, now that we have smelt her cooking those two will be asking for her to move in." I laugh cause he's so right about them, they would ask her. "I know."
