I clambered up the ladder behind Bellamy and the sight of Lin was like a knock to the throat. The air stopped in its tracks and I felt a slight difficulty in breathing and keeping my cool.
I hated seeing him like this. It wasn't even him standing infront of me.
I've heard of other villagers going missing to the mountain men then turning up months later a reaper. There had been whispers that the ones we would recognise would be taken back and surveyed. What happens to them is a mystery to me. It was a topic only adults discussed and was a secret kept from the young.
The same shock was on Clarke's face when she stuck her head through. Pure horror and confusion.
Lincholn roared and jolted at the new comer, lashing in his in restraints.
Clarke jumped back in a fright and Bellamy quickly stepped closer to assure her safety.
I stared blankly at my brother as he screamed and snapped his jaws. No, this wasn't my brother. This was a monster.
"I knew Mount Weather controlled the reapers..." Clarke stepped cautiously closer. "I had no idea they were creating them."
"They're doing that to Lincholn, what are they doing to our friends?" Bellamy shifted nervously.
"They've already used Jasper as a 'test subject' and they're wanting them to volunteer." I told them.
"What's going to happen if they refuse and push comes to shove?"
I tightened my lips into a thin line and slid down next to Octavia shaking my head.
I let out a frustrated sigh clasping my hands together in guilt that I left my friends behind. What the hell's happening to them? Are they even still alive after my dumb move?
Lin tugged harder and harder, his actions more violent as the presence of more people was clearly getting to him.
Octavia and I would flinch and shrink in our corner at his every movement. It was scary. To see someone we cared about so deeply like that was scary as hell. I needed my brother back. He was all I had left.
It was getting dark out, and Lincholn still showed no signs of change. I slumped in hopelessness in my corner when he stopped his racket and his whole body shook and spasmed in place.
"He's convolsing." Clarke observed.
"What's that?" I asked, pricking up from my state.
Clarke studied him more, not answering me.
"What happened to his leg?" She asked.
"W-we uh, I shot him." Octavia stuttered, looking down at her feet. I could hear the pain in her words as she stood there.
Clarke stared at her for a moment. I was unable to read her expression, it seemed as if she was trying to wrap her head around the whole situation.
"Clarke, he's lost alot of blood." I snapped her out of her stare.
She turned back to the issue at hand and took a step closer to Lin. He roared in her face and lashed out at her, she jumped in place but she saw the security of the chains and took another step closer to examine him.
"Can you shine the light on his neck" She asked as more of an order than a question.
Octavia immedeately rose her flash light up to the place Clarke was looking at and marks on his neck became apparent.
"Needle marks."
"You think he's being drugged?" Bellamy asked.
"Maybe." She said stepping back, but not far enough because in the blink of an eye, the old rusted chain snapped and one of Lincolns arms were free.
He reached with his one arm out at Clarke and grabbed ahold of her while jerking his other arm free.
"Lincoln!" Octavia screamed, lunging over at him in attempt to pry Clarke away but failed and was easily tossed aside into the metal wall.
Bellamy threw punches at the tall grounder while I pulled Clarke out of his grasp. He finally let go of her and diverted his attention to Bellamy, wrapping his large hands around his throat and squeezing him like a maggot.
"No!" I growled and pounced on his sweat soaked body and latched my arm around his throat from behind.
I squeezed my eyes shut waiting for him to let go. I felt his body jolt and when I opened my eyes, my body was being ripped over his head and tossed onto the ground. I felt the air knock out of my lungs and my vision faded slightly as my head hit the metal flooring.
It felt like my eyes were rolling around in their sockets as I tried to regain my full conciousness but being pulled back up and dangled in the air at my throat like a rag doll was not helping me at all. I kicked his shin as hard as I could but intstead of letting me go, he spun me around so that my back was now to his chest and his arm was across my throat.
Clarke was struggling against him and out of the corner of my eye, I saw Octavia slowly rise up from the floor. I thrashed in his arms some more and for the split second that his arm loosened, I sunk my teeth hard into it. Sweat, then the metalic taste of blood filled my mouth, dripping down my chin.
He screamed and finally let me go. I fell with a thud, coughing and spitting the blood out.
I turned quickly when I heard another thud and saw Lincoln's almost unconcious body lying next to me. Octavia stood over him with a metal bar in hand, the look on her face was heart breaking. I knew she didn't want to have done it, but I think she understood it was us or him.
"Quick, the net, and get some seat belts." Bellamy ordered, scrambling up to his feet and throwing a thick net over Lincoln's body and the others secured him in place with anything they could find.
I dragged myself up into a sitting position and leaned my back against the cold wall trying to catch my breath.
Lin's actions were soulless and ravage. I had never been attacked like that before. Octavia, with tears in her eyes excused herself from the room to get some fresh air.
Bellamy crouched down in front of me with a pained look in his eyes.
"Hey." He said in a soft voice. "How you holding up?"
"I've seen brighter days..." I sighed, wiping the damp blood from my chin. "Probably a cracked rib or two..."
He slumped down beside be and snaked an arm around my shoulder, comforting me with his warmth.
I looked up at his bruised face and saw the red marks on his neck darkening.
"We haven't had a chance to talk since... you know." He leaned his head slowly onto mine.
"Since I abandoned my friends?" I growled in spite of myself. "Those people used Jasper the way they used me, and every other Trigeda warrior. I should have stayed longer, worked out a plan for all of us. I was selfish."
"You know what I think?" He mumbled, "I think you were just trying to help them. You escaped so that you could come to us. We wouldn't have known how bad things are getting up there if you hadn't gotten out."
I shifted my head to look up at him but found no words escaped my lips. I didn't know how to respond to him.
Why has this sweet, beautiful space dweller decided to put so much faith in me?
This is so short and crappy and I hate it but I feel like I should post it cause I haven't posted in 5 ever and yeah. So I get home from my lovely holiday and a handful of dramas get thrown in my face so I've been dealing with that. Sorry if my writing is dull and weird and unfun. I apologises. I couldn't even come up with a chapter title, what even is this. Not impressed. Not impressed.
